Pagan Carols

As we are approaching Yule, it dawned on me yesterday that I really didn't know any Pagan carols suitable for the season. All I know are the traditional Christmas carols. I am browsing the community forums over at Sacred Mists and one of my sisters posted a carol that she had found online. It is to the tune of Silent Night.

A Pagan Silent Night

Silent night, Solstice Night
All is calm, all is bright

Nature slumbers in forest and glen

Till in Springtime She wakens again

Sleeping spirits grow strong!

Sleeping spirits grow strong!

Silent night, Solstice night

Silver moon shining bright

Snowfall blankets the slumbering
Earth
Yule fires welcome the Sun's rebirth
Hark, the Light is reborn!

Hark, the Light is reborn!

Silent night, Solstice night

Quiet rest till the Light

Turning ever the rolling Wheel
Brings the Winter to comfort and heal

Rest your spirit in peace!

Rest your spirit in peace!

I absolutely love this :) If anyone knows of any others that you would like to share I would love to see them. :) I also looked online and came across a link that you may like as well. It also has several Pagan Carols. http://www.joellessacredgrove.com/Carols/carols.html

Home Again :)

Merry Meet,

It has been quite some time since I have taken the time to write. My mundane world has been quite a bit hectic, but my bigger issue is I have been sick for quite some time. I still am, but seem to finally be getting a bit of energy back. I got the swine flue back in October. It moved into an infection in my lungs which I have been duking it out with for quite some time. The current issue is an infection in my ear which will not go away. It causes me pain at night that makes it very difficult to sleep. As a result I have been really tired these past couple of months and have not been up to much of anything besides relaxing when I can and taking care of my children.

As I am sitting here writing this I am listening to the Winter Solstice channel on aolradio. I just found this channel this afternoon and I am so relaxed listening to it. I forgot what a huge impact music can make on my mood. Definately something I would recommend you check out as we are getting prepared for Yule.

I fully intend to try to get back into everything full speed as I have missed being an active part of Sacred Mists. I have not stopped practicing my faith. I have been doing meditations and working on my healing and divination skills in some of my free time, I just not have been working online on it.

In any event today is my first day back at Sacred Mists in quite some time and it really does feel good to be home :))))

Moon Glow

I went to the Big E the other day. It is a huge fair that is held in my area each year. A lot of fun to attend. :) When I was browsing through the various buildings and looking at all the things, I came across a booth that caught my attention. It was made so that it was all dark inside and had all these glittering cloths with Moons and Stars on them. Of course I had to have a closer look. :)

The booth was selling what are called Moonglow Necklaces. You can see a sample of one of them above. They use a Moon Phase Calculater to tell you what the moon looked like on the day you were born, or any other special event that you want to look up. You can look up the phases on their website for free. http://www.moonglow.us/ They then take a picture of the moonphase and put it in the locket like above. It's absolutely beautifull :)))) Course to make it even better the moon actually glows in the dark. I got the one pictured above with a black onyx as the stone used in it.

The lady selling them asked me for my birthdate and immediately she tells me "oh you have the one that everyone wants." She has the biggest smile on her face and hands me the necklace I am now wearing with the full moon. :) Turns out I was born on a full moon. Somehow I'm not surprised lol :)))) I absolutely love the necklace. My son who is also an empath was born on the full moon as well. I'm curious how many empath's or HSP's were born on the full moon as well.

I wanted to pass this along because I know some of you may really love this necklace as much as I do, and I definately know some of you will be curious about the moon phase when you were born. :)) Enjoy!

Love and Blessings,

Protected by Guides

I was falling asleep last night and I had an overwhelming urge to write about an experience I had in August on here. When I awoke this morning I still felt compelled to write about it so here I am. It's a fairly long story so if you can, hang with me. ;)

I went on vacation to Maine in August. A few days before I left for vacation my husband and I had a night out as we had a babysitter. Our original plans had fallen through, so we had a nice dinner then found ourselves wandering the stores at the mall. I wound up at Borders, a book store in the mall. I absolutely love books and quickly found myself lost in the New Age section looking at all the different books. I've always been drawn to things, but since my Reiki attunement I find that when I am suppose to notice something my hand will start tingling as it does when I practice Reiki. The closer I get to what I am suppose to notice the stronger it tingles/vibrates. Does this happen for everyone? I have no clue but I know it's been happening to me since my attunement in July. On this particular occasion I was really drawn to a book. It was a bit off topic for what I was looking for. But I was drawn so strongly to this book I decided to pick it up as well as a book on Reiki. The book was about developing your psychic abilities.

Fast forward to vacation. :)

When we got to the place we were renting on vacation we were very happy with it. The condo was beautiful. However it had two big issues for us. The first and biggest issue was that it had very large windows in all the bedrooms that were very low. I mean the bottom of the window sill was below my waist. Apparently there must not be a code about this in Maine. My husband drew my attention to this fact right away. Not a problem, we'll just make sure we keep them closed all the time and keep the air conditioning on. ....... Next problem..... no air conditioning. Both of us were concerned as we had to keep the windows open so as not to make the bedrooms like saunas. We were use to keeping the bedroom doors closed at home to keep Cole out of trouble so figured we would go with this option. For those of you who may not know, my son is 2, and my daughter is 6.

We got all settled in that night and woke up the next day ready to begin our vacation. We started our morning with a few hours on the beach. At about 10:30 Cole began asking to go for a nap. I put him down in our bedroom to sleep with a fan on to try to keep it cool in there. I shut the window as I was paranoid about him climbing up and falling out of the window. But the room was cool from having the window open all night.

While he was napping I settled in on my deck outside and curled up with the book I had purchased. Again I had an overwhelming urge to start with the Psychic book so that's what I did. I found it a very very easy read and found myself flying through it fairly quickly. The book used a lot of stories to illustrate points. I was on the section about mother's intuition and one story in particular jumped out at me. It was about a mother who was doing laundry in another room. She had a 2 year old son. She noticed the house was quiet, too quiet, and went to check on him. The door to her bedroom had been left open, as she walked into the room she noticed her son sitting on the windowsill playing with a toy. She moved very quietly toward her son, so as not to startle or surprise him and when she got within an arms reach she grabbed him off the sill.

For some reason this story really jumped out at me, and I marveled how she was able to remain so calm in such a scary situation. I just lay there for awhile thinking about it and found myself drifting off to sleep in the sunshine and had a dream about it. Only it happened to me and Cole. My husband woke me up from my snooze. Everything was still quite fresh in my mind so I told him all that had happened. Now the windows in my room were really making me nervous. But I tried to relax and figured we would have to be really anal about making sure the doors were shut. I convinced my husband to go to WalMart with me after lunch to see if we could find something, anything to use as a barrier in the window.

By now Cole was awake and I made lunch for everyone. I was cleaning up from lunch, doing the dishes and I looked out at the living room . My husband was reading a book to Melody. It was quiet...too quiet.... I asked him where Cole was, he said he was in the hallway playing with his trucks. My son is never quiet when playing with trucks. I quickly went to check on him. My heart was racing as I already had a feeling something wasn't right.

As I rounded the corner to the hallway I noticed my bedroom door was open. I already knew what I was going to find. As soon as I walked through the door I saw my Cole sitting on the windowsill. My heart immediately went to my throat. He was playing with the screen pushing on it, somehow he managed to pop the screen and was holding onto it. We were on the second floor and Cole was holding the screen up over the parking lot below balancing only by his one leg that was still on the side of the sill in the bedroom. The other leg was outside the window. I immediately went into "Mom mode" as I call it. I was very very calm, talking to him quietly and asking him questions as I made my way to him. As soon as I got close enough I grabbed his arm and pulled him to me. Once I got him back in my arms then I started shaking. I was so grateful to have him safe in my arms. I immediately shut the window and locked it.

I still marvel at the string of events that led up to me responding that way in that situation. Had I panicked at all there's a very good chance it would've startled him and he could have fallen. I honestly have no idea how he was managing to balance on that windowsill and hold that screen up. I am grateful that my guides helped to call my attention to that situation before it happened and helped me to respond appropriately. Would it have happened the same had I not read that story? Possibly. But I find everything that happened too much of a coincidence to pass it off as a coincidence. Whatever happened I am very very grateful that Cole is ok. :))))

Moonlit Wishes Do Come True

I've been going through a lot lately. Crazy times. lol Summer is ending and I am getting ready for fall which brings very hectic times for me. My daughter is just starting kindergarten this year. A very exciting time for us both. :)) Much as I love the warm weather I also love waking up to the crisp cool morning that fall brings.

Last night I was stopped to take a minute to myself. I was quite overwhelmed and found myself asking the Goddess for guidance on a longstanding issue I have been dealing with. Once I finished quietly asking for guidance I glanced out the open window next to me and focused right on the moon. It's glow was just amazing against the dark sky. As I looked at it I noticed that it seemed to begin to really glow. The glow seemed to take the shape of a cross. It really radiated out in the moonlight and I sat there and just marveled at how beautiful it was. (I looked to try to find a picture of something similar but wasn't able to find anything) I thought the timing on it was remarkable as I had never noticed the moonlight light up the sky in that way. Still I thought it could be just a coincidence. Right as I thought it could be a coincidence I noticed a tiny star immediately to the left of the moon. It was the only star visible at that time. So I made a wish! lol :))) I once again asked for guidance on the issue that I am dealing with. Feeling content after taking the time to take in the beautiful view, I went in to get my daughter ready for bed.

I brought my daughter in to brush her teeth and right when she walked into the bathroom she said "Oh Mommy look at the moonlight!" She ran over to the window, put her hands on the sill and sat there just gazing at the moon as I had not 5 minutes before. I found it remarkable that she happened to be taken with the moonlight as she's not mentioned it in the past and her timing was perfect. Right after that she says "Look Mommy the first star of the night right next to it. It's a wishing star. Mommy I'm going to make a wish because Moonlight star wishes always come true." I was taken completely aback that she said that. Her timing was incredible. I took it as a sign that my request for guidance had indeed been heard. My daughter then proceeded to wish for a pegasus epet. lol :))))) I gave her a big hug and sat and looked at the moonlight with her for another moment then got her ready for bed. It's funny how little things really can make a difference and give you hope and love.

Loving Summer :)))

Merry Meet everyone. I apologize for my absence. The summer is always crazy for me and even more so with two children now. I find most of my days fly by and are gone before I even know what happened. I live in New England so this is the time of the year that I make the most of the weather and spend as much time as possible outside. When I'm not outside I am usually working my tail off to catch up with the cleaning and the work that I do from home.

I am blessed to be able to work from home as it allows the freedom to manipulate my schedule to a favorable one for me, but in the summer I always seem to fall behind. My children are my first priority and I love the ages they are at. They are such a blessing in my life.

I also go to the ocean quite a bit during the summer. It is a place that brings me much peace of mind and helps me sort out my life. It is also a wonderful place to have fun with my kids! I am looking forward to going to Maine on vacation next Saturday. We have rented a house that is almost right on the beach and I cannot wait to wake up to the sound of the ocean every day.

While I have not been online as much as I would like I have still been working very hard on my skills. I have been doing several tarot and pendulum readings for my friends. It's funny I remember someone saying that once you learn Wiccan skills people would seek you out for your assistance and they do! lol I love how accurate my tarot and pendulum readings seem to be for people and it gives me great pleasure to be able to help them out.

I've also been continuing my healing work with Reiki and energy healing, chakra cleansing and healing with the pendulum. I find that I have people coming to me for assistance with those as well and I am loving to be able to practice. The feeling of energy in my hands is such a cool feeling :)))))

I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer and I wish you many magickal blessings. May love and light surround you.

Emotional Journey

I am so behind on everything! lol I am struggling to keep up with my daily workload, cleaning, taking care of the kids and enjoying summer ))) I know things will calm in the fall as they always do. I am just taking time to spend with my children enjoying the wonderful weather.

In the past couple of weeks the strangest things have been happening to me. It appears I am destined to take a journey confronting my past. It is one full of mixed emotions to add to my already current mixed emotions. I do feel that it is the Goddess's intention to have me confront these issues in order to help me determine what is going on in my current life. I am accepting the situations with open arms and working through them I will not delve into a lot of details but a few significant people from my past have just recently come back into my life and I am confronting some unresolved issues and situations. That's about as comfortable as I am in revealing them here.

One I do feel free to speak about. A very good friend from the past has come back into my life and I am so grateful she has. We seem to have found each other at a time where we could both use a confident to lean on Fondly enough she had explored the Wiccan path in the past, and due to our recent rekindling of our friendship she has decided to pursue it again. ) So not only have I regained a wonderful friend but also a spiritual one as well. I truly am blessed.

As for my journey through my past I will continue to meditate to help find my answers and follow my heart and hopefully the path that I am intended and seek the answers which I am meant to find.

Reiki Attunement

I received my Reiki Attunement for Levels 1 & 2 last night. :) I was so excited all day yesterday. I've been saving my money to get the attunement for a little while now.

The attunement was to be done for me by Lady Raven through Sacred Mists. It would be done while I was asleep. Last night I concentrated on trying to relax and just be ready to receive the attunement to be sent to me. I spent a couple hours watching tv and relaxing with a glass of wine on my own. At about 10:00 I went in and took a ritual bath to cleanse my mind and prepare myself to receive the energy being sent my way. The bath was amazing. I had my candles lit, and water to drink, and just spend a bit over a half hour relaxing and meditating to clear my mind.

After my bath I was amazingly calm and focused and definitely ready to go to sleep. I settled in and just tried to be openminded and ready for the attunement. My sleep last night was quite interesting. I awoke at one point and felt like I was just surrounded by light and almost had a floating feeling? Not sure how else to describe it, I wasn't fully awake and fell back to sleep quite quickly. I also remember feeling energy in the palms of my hands throughout the night. I didn't have any specific dreams last night but remember feeling a floating sensation and feeling like I was just comfortable and peaceful in the white light. I awoke this morning at 5:00 am very early for me and was amazed how energetic, balanced and focused I felt for that hour of the morning.

I woke up and can tell my body has already started the cleansing process to prepare me to be a better healer. My attitude today is amazing. I just feel balanced and so at peace with everything it is absolutely amazing.

I am looking forward to starting to work with the symbols and the energy. I will go through a 21 day cleansing period, and during this time I will work on Reiki on myself daily to learn how to manage the energy and work with the symbols given to me. :)) I am absolutely thrilled and looking forward to this next step in my spiritual journey. I am blessed to have the opportunity to be able to help heal with my hands. It truly is amazing to me.

Mystical Farm

It feels like ages since I've had the opportunity to write a post. I went to Cape Cod on vacation the past week I came back on Tuesday. On my return I had a really bad infection in my tooth which unfortunately kept me away from my work until today. I'm happy to report the antibiotics are finally fixing it and the pain is gone for now. Hoooray. :)) Enough about the tooth though ;) I wanted to write of an amazing experience I had at the Cape.

Anyone who knows me knows I am an ocean girl, and I definitely enjoyed my time at the ocean while I was there however one experience really left a lasting impression on me. We were staying at a house on Bray Farm Rd in Yarmouth Port Cape Cod. I was told there was a farm at the end of the street. On Sunday morning I decided to put Cole in his stroller and venture out for a walk with just the two of us. The walk itself was enjoyable as I love checking out houses and just going for walks in general. As I rounded the top of the hill I became awestruck as I first caught site of the farm. It was like walking back in time and to another country all in one. The pavement turned to a dirt road that went along the edge of the farm. As soon as I hit the dirt path with the stroller I noticed a fine mist coming down and me and I could feel the mist just rolling on the ground in the area. The mist extended as far as I could see.

I walked up the dirt path a bit and found a large rock on the side of the road. I could see it was engraved so of course I had to check it out. :) It was engraved with the following "Ye Old Taylor Rock, Near this rock about the year 1639 Richard Taylor built his house. Erected by George P and William Bray." The house itself was just a little ways from the rock. It was sunk into the hillside on the side of the dirt road just behind the house. I walked up the path a bit further and as I looked up I could see the fence along the edge of the farm and in the distance was a tree line with an opening that just looked over the mountains. With the rolling mist the scene was beyond breathtaking and I was immediately calmed and felt at home.

They keep the farm open to the public so I brought the stroller up under a tree and unhooked Cole letting him down to wander free about the farm. I spent the next couple hours relaxing, following Cole and watching the donkeys, chickens, sheep and Scottish "coo's" or Scottish Highland Cattle:))) I could not have felt more comfortable or at home which I found strange for a place I had never been. It's very hard to put into words the experience that I had, but I know that it is one that I will not forget, and a time with my son that I will cherish forever. The pictures really don't do it justice but I tried to get some :)

For more information about the farm you can check out this link: http://www.taylorbrayfarm.org/

Spiritual Anatomy

Magick of Reiki: Focused Energy for Healing, Ritual, & Spiritual DevelopmentOne of the books I'm currently reading is the Magick of Reiki: Focused Energy for Healing, Ritual, and Spiritual Anatomy. I'm currently reading the chapter on spiritual anatomy and came across something I found interesting and thought I would share. :)

"Teachers who focus on the medical aspects of Reiki often spend less time on the chakras, and may focus instead on the physical anatomy of the body. The physical body speaks to us through a symbol system that is not as esoteric as the chakra system. Each part of the body represents specific psycho-spiritual issues. Illness or injury in a particular part of the body represents a mental, emotional, or spiritual imbalance in the area of consciousness represented by that part of the body. Use this list to learn and understand the system of boy symbolism.

Left Side: Feminine, receiving, personal, home, private
Right Side: Masculine, giving, projecting, work, public
Head/Face: Identity
Eyes: Seeing the world clearly, looking at the past/present/future
Ears: Listening to others, listening to the inner voice
Mouth/Teeth: Nourishment, communication
Throat: Speaking truth, communication, listening/speaking balance
Shoulder/Arm: Communication, self-expression
Hands: Dominant Hand: ability to give. Nondominant hand: ability to recive.
Heart: Love, self-love, relationships
Bones: Support, strength, foundation, reliability
Back: Support, strength, standing in your truth, being yourself
Breast: Feminine, mother, nourishment, childhood
Stomach: Nourishment, mother
Liver: Anger, fear, resentment, feeling unprotected
Intestines: Discrimination/discernment, work, nervousness, release
Kidneys: Balance, relationships, cleansing
Reproductive: Sexuality, pleasure, family, shame
Bladder: Anger, fear
Eliminative: Fear of death, holding on to harmful energies, release
Thighs: Freedom, activity, action, sport, recreation
Knees/Shins: Responsibility, pressure, tension, stress, honor
Ankles: Individuality, social support, friendship
Feet: Creativity, music, art, dance support, depression escape.

I've also found the study of the medical astrology to be very helpful in finding the spiritual root of physical ailments. This discipline relates parts of the body to various signs and organs, and then correlates the spiritual issues related to each sign and planet to the illness. Chakras, symbolism, and astrology are all methods for understanding the relationship between consciousness and physical health."

If you are interested in reading more, I would highly recommend his book. I have found it to be an easy read and very enlightening to anyone wanting to learn more about healing. :) Enjoy!

Time....

Take the Time to Play in the Rain and Puddles

On Father's Day I went to visit my parents. They live in a log cabin on top of a mountain. I always love going back to their house as I am an outdoor girl, and love going back "home" It's very relaxing for me. My Dad wanted to have a relaxing Father's Day and just wanted to have some simple sandwiches and take a walk in the woods.

There is a reservoir near my parents house so we drove up to it and parked the cars. It was an overcast day and it kept raining off and on. When we got there it was raining a bit and my parents were hesitant on going for the walk. However it was really warm and the rain wasn't that bad so we grabbed some umbrellas and started to walk out to the dam that goes over the lake.

My son Cole was dressed in nice clothes but he had sandals on as well. As soon as we got out of the car he was eyeing the little stream the rain was creating going down the path and the huge puddles. I was told to hold onto him so that he wouldn't get all dirty and wet. My son is a year and a half. I could see the smile and excitement on his face and really couldn't see the harm in him puddle stomping. So I rolled his pants up above his knees and let him go for it.

You couldn't possibly miss his huge smiles and squeels of glee and laughter as he stomped his way down the little stream and the puddles. Everyone was protesting at first at how dirty he was getting, but the fun he was having and the look on his face was just priceless. :))))) Along the way Cole helped me pick some wildflowers and rocks! lol We were stuffing them into the wagon where my daughter sat holding an umbrella over her head trying not to get wet. The view was absolutely amazing as well. The rain was making this magickal mist over the water and you felt like you were in a fairy tale. By the end of the walk, Cole and I were both absolutely filthy and soaked but so relaxed, and everyone else was smiling and laughing as well :))))

What could have been a damp dismal day turned out to be an absolutely magickal day. My son lit up the lives of all of us that day. :))))

Next time it rains, take the time to go out and play barefoot in the puddles. You may find yourself happy that you did :))))

Have a Blessed Litha!

This week has just flown by. I can't believe it's Friday already. I am behind on everything! lol I am now a co-facilitator on the Health and Healing board Yayyy I'm very excited to be able to give back a bit to the Sacred Mists community and am really happy about being able to work with that board.

I've been doing a LOT of gardening in the past week. This is the first year I've really gotten into it at all. I've set up an herbal garden with oregano, chives, mint, and lavender. )) I've also planted some flowers around the yard, and am working on a vegetable garden in my yard as well. I am so sore! lol :))) But I have been loving every minute of it.

I am looking forward to the Litha ritual tonight at the Mists. I am hoping that everything goes as planned and I will be able to get the kids in bed on time and the quiet time to be able to participate in the ritual. This is my first Litha :))) I am going to take the kids outside as it is actually not raining here for a little while and we are looking at the next week may be all rain.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Litha! ))) May your day be filled with magick love and light. :)))

Deities of Litha (from about.com)

The summer solstice has long been a time when cultures celebrated the lengthening year. It is on this day, sometimes called Litha, that there is more daylight than any other time; a direct counterpoint to the darkness of Yule. No matter where you live, or what you call it, chances are you can connect to a culture that honored a sun deity around this time of year. Here are just a few of the gods and goddesses from around the world that are connected with the summer solstice.

Amaterasu (Shinto): This solar goddess is the sister of the moon deity and the storm god of Japan, and is known as the goddess "from which all light comes". She is much loved by her worshippers, and treats them with warmth and compassion. Every year in July, she is celebrated in the streets of Japan.

Aten (Egypt): This god was at one point an aspect of Ra, but rather than being depicted as an anthropomorphic being (like most of the other ancient Egyptian gods), Aten was represented by the disc of the sun, with rays of light emanating outward.

Apollo (Greek): The son of Zeus by Leto, Apollo was a multi-faceted god. In addition to being the god of the sun, he also presided over music, medicine and healing. He was at one point identified with Helios. As worship of him spread throughout the Roman empire into the British Isles, he took on many of the aspects of the Celtic deities, and was seen as a god of the sun and of healing.

Hestia (Greek): This goddess watched over domesticity and the family. She was given the first offering at any sacrifice made in the home. On a public level, the local town hall served as a shrine for her -- any time a new settlement was formed, a flame from the public hearth was taken to the new village from the old one.

Horus (Egyptian): Horus was one of the solar deities of the ancient Egyptians. He rose and set every day, and is often associated with Nut, the sky god. Horus later became connected with another sun god, Ra.

Huitzilopochtli (Aztec): This warrior god of the ancient Aztecs was a sun god and the patron of the city of Tenochtitlan. He battled with Nanahuatzin, an earlier solar god. Huitzilopochtli fought against darkness, and required his worshippers to make regular sacrifices to ensure the sun's survival over the next fifty-two years, which is a significant number in Mesoamerican myths.

Juno (Roman): She is also called Juno Luna and blesses women with the privilege of menstruation. The month of June was named for her, and because Juno was the patroness of marriage, her month remains an ever-popular time for weddings and handfasting.

Lugh (Celtic): Similar to the Roman god Mercury, Lugh was known as a god of both skill and the distribution of talent. He is sometimes associated with midsummer because of his role as a harvest god, and during the summer solstice the crops are flourishing, waiting to be plucked from the ground at Lughnasadh.

Sulis Minerva (Celtic, Roman): When the Romans occupied the British Isles, they took the aspects of the Celtic sun goddess, Sulis, and blended her with their own goddess of wisdom, Minerva. The resulting combination was Sulis Minerva, who watched over the hot springs and sacred waters in the town of Bath.

Sunna or Sol (Germanic): Little is known about this Norse goddess of the sun, but she appears in the poetic eddas as the sister of the moon god.

Shower Cleansing Exercise

One of the things I am working on is to become a better healer and get better at working with energy. I am currently reading the book Mindlight by Silver Ravenwolf. In the book she has a shower meditation that I absolutely love. I hope you enjoy it. :)

Shower Cleansing Exercise

"This exercise is so easy you'll want to do it every time you take a shower once you've experienced how great it makes you feel! And assuming no one watches you in the shower, you have all the privacy you need. For young parents or a busy household, normally the one place you have all to yourself for a few minutes each day for total privacy is the bathroom.

In the shower with the hot water running and all that luscious steam surrounding you, cross your hands over your chest. Take a deep breath. And another. Allow yourself to be in the moment. Note the feeling of the water on your skin, the sound of the falling water as it strikes the walls, curtain, shower floor, the gentle stream that opens breathing passages. As you stand there enjoying the sounds and feelings of the water, bless the water in your own way. Thank the water for providing cleansing energy. When you are ready, take a deep breath. Then, as you exhale, fling your hands down over the front of your body and out, visualizing all negativity being cast off from your body. Do a quarter turn. Repeat. Another quarter turn. Repeat. One last quarter turn. Repeat. now, raise your arms over your head and allow the water to rush over you. As you breathe in, think of the white light filling your entire body from the tips of your fingers to the soles of your feet. When you are feeling very good (stay in the moment - no thinking about anything but being right here in this shower right now), keep your left hand up in the air, palm facing the heavens, and move your right palm down to your side, palm towards the ground. Heaven is above you. Earth is below you. You are in the center. This is balance. The ability to walk between two worlds. Take three deep breaths, staying in the moment. Move the right hand up into the air, right palm facing the heavens, and move your left arm down, palm facing the earth. Again-this is balance. Stay in the moment. Totally secure. Totally at peace. Finish by crossing your arms over your chest. Say to yourself, "I am!" while you close your eyes and fill your entire body with white light. When you are finished, turn off the water and flick water drops from your fingers three times in quick succession. This portion of the meditation is done.

As you dry off, dress, and attend to any other bodily needs, think of nothing but what you are doing. Stay in the moment until you open that bathroom door. If you practice this every day you will be amazed at the concentration and ease with which you go about your daily tasks."

Root Chakra

I am working on becoming better with healing. I have been doing a lot of energy work, and working with the pendulum. The last lesson in my pendulum class was working with the Chakra's and while I realized I have a basic knowledge of the Chakra's I wanted to improve my knowledge of them. I started Lesson 1 the other day.

Part of our homework assignment for the lesson was to color in a root chakra mandala. I love playing with graphics :)) So I immediately grabbed a copy of it and went to my graphics program to start coloring it in. The first time I did it I started to feel settled and actually noticed a tingling in my root chakra. I wound up using a lot of flame graphics as I was going along. I was trying to follow the color in the demonstration one to a point. As I was going through coloring it in, I noticed myself starting to feel a bit stressed by the flames in the graphics! lol :))) I had an urge to restart so I hit refresh and started over. This time I didn't look at an example I just colored in with what I felt. As I was doing it I found myself in a relaxed meditative state and I found myself funny enough working through issues in my mind that pertained to my root chakra. It took me almost 2 hours to complete it. I had a lot of reflection time after doing it. I found it to be an amazing experience. This is what it looked like:

Root Chakra (from About.com)

The Base or Root Chakra is associated with the color red. This chakra is the grounding force that allows us to connect to the earth energies and empower our beings. Focusing one's attention on the color of a cherry popsicle or a juicy red apple can help bring our energetic body "down to earth" and in alignment with our physical body when we find ourselves energetically fleeting or in other words....."spacing off."
Chakra One - Associations
  • Color - red
  • Sanskrit Name - muladhara
  • Physical Location - base of the spine
  • Purposes - kinesthetic feelings, movement
  • Spiritual Lesson - material world lessons
  • Physical Dysfunctions- lower back pain, sciatica, varicose veins, rectal tumors, depression, immune related disorders
  • Mental and Emotional Issues - survival, self esteem, social order, security, family
  • Information Stored Inside Root Chakra - familial beliefs, superstitions, loyalty, instincts, physical pleasure or pain, touch
  • Area of Body Governed - spinal column, kidneys, legs, feet, rectum, immune system
Gemstones and Flower Essences: Gemstones and Flower Essences that stimulate, cleanse and energize the root chakra
  • Gemstones - Hematite, Black Tourmaline, Onyx
  • Flower Essences - Corn, Clematis, Rosemary
Root Chakra Exercises - Chakracise your root chakra by stomping your feet upon the ground, marching, and doing squats

Feeding Your Root Chakra
Grounding
Root vegetables: carrots, potatoes, parsnips, radishes, beets, onions, garlic, etc.
Protein-rich foods: eggs, meats, beans, tofu, soy products, peanut butter
Spices: horseradish, hot paprika, chives, cayenne, pepper

Experience Healing with the Pendulum

I've been working on Lesson 14 in the Pendulum extension class. It involves working on healing the chakra's with the pendulum. I've been waiting for a chance to try it out.

My husband was having issues with his legs last night so I used the pendulum to find where the problem was generated from and attempted some healing work, and also used the pendulum to answer questions to help find a diagnosis. He has a strained muscle in the top of his leg caused from fatigue and a bit of dehydration. :) Obviously I'm no doctor and we're going to keep an eye on it ;) but that was what I found working with the pendulum.

While I had him there relaxing I asked him if he would mind if I did some Chakra work. I used the pendulum first in my dominant hand and worked my way up him from his root chakra from his crown chakra. It remained in it's baseline position for all but three chakras. It started swinging as a maybe on the Solar Plexus Chakra, a No on the Heart Chakra, and a Maybe on the Third Eye Chakra. The rest it stayed baseline. I then went back over them holding my pendulum in my nondominant hand over the top of my hand I was using to attempt healing. While over each Chakra that had an issue I visualized removing negative energy and blockages and the chakra spinning. It took me a minute to two minutes for each one. As I was doing this the pendulum was actually moving. It went from a No, to a maybe to a Yes and then it would start indicating a huge spin on yes when it seemed to be all set. I noticed that when it did the huge spin on yes I was able to feel heat under my hand in the area I was doing the healing. My husband said he was able to feel the heat as well which I thought was really cool.

I used it in the same way to attempt healing on his arm and his leg. I tried to send healing and positive energy to him using my dominant and held the pendulum over that hand. As I did that the pendulum eventually went to a swinging yes for each area and I could feel heat under my hands.

Something interesting on the chakras when I went back to do a final check the pendulum stayed baseline the whole way. On the areas that I attempted to heal it still moved but where it was swinging wildly in a No, it went down to little or no movement.

I realize the way I did it was a little different from the lesson but it felt very natural this way? I'm hoping that it is an acceptable way, the way I wound up doing it.

I have had a relaxing couple of days. Well I seem relaxed besides the chaos going on! lol :))) Affirmations must be working ;) :))))

I spent last night making a signature tag for Phoenix Indigo Ember and Northern Willow. Northern Willow is a new student who will be here as soon as she gets access to the message boards! :) She found her way to the Mists by reading my blogs and I have been corresponding with her on e-mail. I thought it'd be nice to give her a signature tag for when she starts here. I love working with graphics and making tags. It's relaxing for me. :)))) I had a lot of fun making those two last night.

I came across a picture today that just seemed to jump out at me. I found myself making another tag today! lol :)))) I used this picture I found to make myself a tag for the work I am doing with the Healing Guild in the Sacred Mists community. :))) I'm very happy with it :)) I actually spent a couple hours on it *blushes* lol but I had fun listening to my music and making it. Here it is! lol

My daughter has been sick the last couple of days. :( She has a sore throat, fever and stomach pains. I had to keep her out of school today which was upsetting as it's her last couple days of preschool and she had a birthday party this afternoon. She is just not well enough to go. I did try to do some healing on her the last couple days. I did some work to try to ease the pain her her throat, reduce the fever and speed the recovery process. She said her throat felt better each time I did it and asks me to do it every few hours lol :)))) I really am not 100% sure that I am doing everything right but I trust the Goddess in leading me, and I don't see any harm in sending her positive energy.

I am going to take my son outside for the afternoon. I am very excited about it. I absolutely love being outside. I always loved being outside when I was little, but I seemed to have gotten away from it over the years. Since beginning my journey I've found my love of the outdoors has returned stronger than ever. I thank the Goddess every day for her strength and guidance in my life.

First Healing Guild Meeting

Tonight was my first Healing Guild Meeting and I absolutely LOVED it!!! Everyone was so amazing and wonderfull and made me feel right at home imediately. :)) Just an amazing group to work with and I am grateful for the opportunity. I am so excited to begin my work with them. At the end of the ceremony we sent healing energy to each other and it was so cool! My hands just sat here absolutely tingling. It was the neatest sensation. I have felt it before but never so strong. I was filled with an overwhelming sense of love and joy. I am definately looking forward to attending the upcoming rituals with the Guild and helping out the on the forums. It is an exciting amazing night for me and I feel as if I am floating on the clouds.

I have been working on feeling and sending energy and I feel as if I am improving. :)) I have been reading the book Mindlight by Silver Ravenwolf and I definately feel it has been helping me learn to work with energy. :)))) I will write more about it later, but I wanted to mention it tonight :)))

Member of Healing Guild and First Live Tarot and Pendulum Reading.

I am very excited today. I was accepted as a member of the Healing Guild at Sacred Mists. :)))) Morgaine is my mentor for my pendulum class and she suggested that I take a look at it and possibly become a member. I sent in a request yesterday and got my response this morning. :))))

One of my ambitions is to become a healer so I'm very happy about becoming a member of the Healing Guild and being able to help out at Sacred Mists. I am also looking forward to attending the rituals and meetings with my fellow members of the Mists and learning what I can from them. My first meeting is Tuesday night and I can't wait :)))) I am hoping to receive the Reiki Attunements and take the class as soon as I can so that I am able to help more people. I just need to save up the money to be able to pay the tuition for it.

I did my first live tarot and pendulum reading last night for my sister. :)) I was very very happy with the results. The pendulum was just as responsive in front of her as it has been for me and I felt that the answers it gave were pretty accurate based on what I know. A couple seemed to made sense to her on questions that I didn't know about. I also did two tarot spreads for her, a Past, Present, and Future Spread and a When will I find love spread. Both came out fantastic! I thought the cards were very very relevant to her situation and made it easy for me to help advise her. She seemed much calmer and happier when I was done with the reading which is exactly what I want to happen. I am so excited that I am finally being able to help people.

Today I plan on doing some yardwork and playing outside with the kids. I also want to do some studying on Chakras in my spare time and do some reading later on.

Rainbow Moonstone Pendulum

I received the pendulum that I saw on Mother's Day. :))) Since I decided not to get it that day it was on my mind quite a bit. I finally messaged the owner of Mystical Elements in Mystic, Connecticut. She was absolutely wonderfull to me. She worked with me to get the pendulum shipped out to me. I received it in the mail the other day and the pendulum is amazing. I had an overwhelming feeling that it is right where it is suppose to be. :))) Below is a picture of the pendulum, it's not very clear but will give you a good idea of how it looks. When it catches the light certain ways you can see rainbows in the crystal. It is really beautiful. :))

The Wiccan Rede - An Interpretation

I spent a few hours this morning going over the Wiccan Rede line by line for my studies. The Wiccan Rede is a set of guidelines that should be followed every day when living life as a witch. It helps outline the ethics that one should consider when following Wicca and practicing witchcraft or magic. The following is my line by line personal interpretation based on what I discovered in my research this morning.

The Wiccan Rede

"Bide ye Wiccan Laws you must" This makes reference to us following the wisdom and guidance offered in the Rede.

"In Perfect Love and Perfect Trust" This refers to how you must live out your life with the Gods and Goddesses, and yourself. When performing magick or rituals it is essential that you enter into it with full love and you have complete trust.

"Live and let live" Live your life how you will as long is it is not having a negative impact on others lives. Let others live their lives as well. Don't be quick to look harshly upon someone who chooses to live a different lifestyle than you.

"Fairly take and fairly give" When practicing the craft make sure that you are engaging in an equal exchange. Use your gifts and talents to help people in life and not take advantage of them.

"Cast the Circle Thrice about, to keep the evil spirits out" Make sure when you are practicing spells and rituals that you cast the circle of protection to keep out evil spirits.

"To bind the spell every time, Let the spell be spoke in rhyme" Most spells that you will perform are in the form of poetry or rhyme. Rhyme appeals to your Maiden aspect and can help awaken your subconscious. This will help increase your focus and the energy you are able to put into your spell.

"Soft of eye, light of touch"
When you interact with people make sure that you are looking at them with love and understanding. When you become cross with someone don't give them the "evil eye" Don't be quick to jump to a conclusion about someone who may have a difference of opinion than you. Try to see the world with patience and understanding. Remember that your interaction with people affects their world. Positive energy will have more benefit than energy put forth by speaking with a negative tongue.

"Speak little, listen much" As a general rule you should listen more than you speak. Listen to others to find their point of view and learn what you can.

"Deosil go by the waxing moon, singing out ye Witches’ Rune." Deosil means sunwise or clockwise. A Waxing Moon is the period when the Moon moves from New Moon to Full Moon. Rune is another word for spell. This is the time to perform spellwork that will bring things to you.

"Widdershins go by the waning moon, chanting out ye Baneful Rune." Widdershins means counterclockwise. And the waning moon is the period when the moon is going from Full Moon to New Moon. This is the time to cast spells for things that you wish to banish in your life.

"When the Lady's hand is new, Kiss the hand to her, times two" In older times it was a Wiccan tradition to send two kisses to the new moon.

“When the moon rides at her peak, then ye heart’s desire seek.” The best time to perform magick is during the full moon, when the magick and energy of the moon is strongest.

"Heed the North winds' mighty gale, Lock the door and trim the sail." Represents the winter season. The North wind brings the winter storms so lock the house up tight. This is celebrated by the Imbolc Sabbat.

"When the Wind blows from the East, Expect the new and set the feast." Represents the Summer season. The East wind is known to bring change and unexpected visitors. This is celebrated by the Lughnasadh Sabbat.

"When the wind comes from the South, Love will kiss thee on the mouth." Represents the Spring season. The Southern winds are known to bring love and romance. This is celebrated by the Beltaine Sabbat.

"When the wind blows from the West, Departed souls will have no rest." Represents the Autumn season. The West Winds are known to bring the departed souls to the Summerlands. This is also celebrated by the Samhain Sabbat.

"Nine woods in the Cauldron go, Burn them fast and burn them slow" Nine different types of wood are places in the Beltain fire. Most Wiccans agree that the following are the nine woods used:

Birch – represents the Goddess.

Oak – represents the God.

Rowan – represents the Tree of Life

Willow – known as Hecate's tree, represents our journey to the Summerland

Hawthorn – represents the Fairy folk and purity

Hazel - represents wisdom and learning.

Apple - represents love and fertility.

Vine - represents joy and its juice is said to cause heightened awareness.

Fir - represents immortality and well suited to Beltaine

"Elder be the lady's tree, Burn it not or cursed you'll be." The Elder tree is the Goddess's tree. It should never be burned.

"When the wheel begins to turn, Let Beltane fire burn." Beltaine falls on May 1st. It is tradition to burn a Beltaine fire on this Sabbat featuring the nine woods detailed above. It is also known as the time where the Goddesses Rule.

"When the wheel has turned to Yule, Light the log and the Horned One rules" Yule falls on December 21st. It is known as the time where the Gods Rule.

"Heed Ye flower,Bush and Tree, By the Lady, blessed be." As witches we have a responsibility to be nature friendly and to help take care of our environment.

"Where the rippling waters go, Cast a stone and truth you'll know." This line refers to water divination, however it applies to all forms of divination.

"When Ye have a true need, Hearken not to other's greed." You should only perform magick when there is a need. This makes you think about what your motivation should be when performing magick for yourself and others.

"With a fool no season spend, Lest Ye be counted as his friend." Know the people that you choose to spend time with. Choose your friends wisely in life. This also applies to the phrase that you are known by the company that you keep.

"Merry meet and merry part, Bright the cheeks and warm the heart." Express that you are happy to see your fellow brothers and sisters and your friends. Don't be afraid to express your love and friendship.

"Mind the Threefold Law you should, Three times bad and Three times good."
This is the threefold law that whatever you put out in the world, either bad or good, will be returned to you multiplied by three. It goes along with the phrase "what goes around comes around" except we believe it "comes around" multiplied by three.

"When misfortune is enow, Wear the blue star on thy brow." The star is the pentacle. This tells us that when we are experiencing trouble we should open our third eye and listen to the Goddess and spirit guides for guidance, resolution and protection.

"rue in Love ever be, Lest thy lover's false to thee." A witches vows can never be taken lightly. If you make a vow to your lover be true to your love. If they have been untrue to you this annuls the vow that you took.

"Eight words the Wiccan Rede fulfill: An it harm none, do what thou wilt." You may not harm yourself or someone else. As long as no harm will be done a witch is allowed to do as they see fit. You must make sure you think out each spell and action taken to know the possible consequences of your actions.

What Does It Mean to Be a Witch?

This was in my Lesson 5 homework at Sacred Mists and I just love it! It says it's by anonymous in the lesson

To be a witch is to love and be loved.

To be a witch is to know everything, and nothing at all.

To be a witch is to change the world around you and yourself.

To be a witch is to share and give, while receiving all the while.

To be a witch is to dance and sing, and hold hands with the universe.

To be a witch is to honor the gods, and yourself.

To be a witch it to BE magick, not just perform it.

To be a witch is to be honorable, or nothing at all.

To be a witch is to accept others who are not.

To be a witch is to know what you feel is right and good.

To be a witch is to harm none.

To be a witch is to know the ways of the old.

To be a witch is to see beyond the barriers.

To be a witch is to follow the moon.

To be a witch is to be one with the gods.

To be a witch is to study and to learn.

To be a witch is to be the teacher and the student.

To be a witch is to acknowledge the truth.

To be a witch is to live with the Earth, not just in it.

To be a witch is to be truly free!

Update

My son and I both have some sort of stomach virus. It is making me really fatigued and causing me pain in my stomach. I am taking it easy today trying to get myself well. It's a nice opportunity for me to relax and catch up on some of my studies at Sacred Mists.

I did some pendulum work this morning and completed the Lesson on Nutrition with the Pendulum. I first made a list of all the different food groups and found which ones were best for my diet. I then narrowed it down to specific foods. I wasn't surprised at all at my results. I got resounding yes's for red meat and iron. This makes sense seeing as I am anemic. One thing that came up was salmon This is something I've not had much of in my diet so I will try to incorporate that into my diet a bit more. When I tested to see if I got enough nutrients from what I ate I received no as an answer and I pressed on.

I listed all the vitamin supplements that I could take and went through the one by one with the pendulum. I had some interesting results. One of the readings I got was that I should be taking a B12 supplement. When I went on to read about B12 it helps with a lot of the issues that I have been experiencing with my health. I still find it amazing how accurate the pendulum is for me. It also suggested that I take a multi-vitamin, Vitamin C, and vitamin B2 and B3 supplements. I got out my vitamins that I've been neglecting taking and took a multi-vitamin and I have B12 here which I took. I will see about getting the other supplements in the house. I am hoping it may help with some of the health issues I've been having lately. Time will tell

I am currently working on my Lesson 5 homework. I am excited about this Lesson. It is about Magick and Ethics and I am absolutely loving it so far. So I'm back to work on my homework for Lesson 5 :))

Pendulum Experience: Goddess Isis Confirmed

Daily Affirmation: There is no one in the whole world like me.

I decided to focus some more time with my Pendulum today. I spent time cleaning it, meditating with it, and instilling it with my positive energy.

I LOVE my pendulum :) I am really really surprised at how easy, clear, and consistant the answers I get from it are. I completed the excercise in Lesson 5. It was actually a nice reaffirment for me of the yes and no that I was asking it, and I learned to hold it properly now! lol I was just holding the top of the chain between my index finger and thumb. It worked the way you instructed as well.I first asked it to indicate how it would like to respond "Yes". My pendulum immediately started spinning in a clockwise circle. I then asked it to show me how it would like to show me it's ready for the next question. It immediately hung straight. I must admit I was shocked at how quick it went from a wild swing to a straight non moving position. I then asked for an indication of "No". It swung back and forth from left to right. I asked it to go back to rest which it did. I then asked for an indication of being unsure or maybe, it started swinging from front to back. I am loving this! ))) I truly am just in awe of this.

I then moved on to work on Lesson 6 :)

I've just spent some time doing a reading with my pendulum. I asked it some basic questions that I knew the answer to. The responses are indicated in parentheses. I then proceeded to ask some questions that I did not know the answer to, it was a sort of natural progression? I don't know I rested the pendulum between each answer. Is my husband at work? (Yes)Am I taking my daughter to dance class tonight. (Yes)Is it raining outside my house right now? (No)Will my husband be home before 7:00 tonight (Yes)Is my mother feeling better from her cold this afternoon (Yes)Is my grandfather still here watching over me and my family (Yes)Is he standing next to me right now? (No)Is there a spirit standing next to me right now? (Yes)Is it someone that I knew in this life? (Yes)Is the spirit standing next to me right now my grandmother Mary? (No)Is this spirit someone who walked physically in this life at the same time as me. (No)Is this spirit someone I met in this lifetime? (Yes)Is this spirit around me often? (Yes)Is this spirit a Goddess? (Yes)Is this spirit the Goddess Isis? (Yes)At this point I placed the pendulum down and meditated. I have just had a really amazing experience and am a bit baffled at the moment but filled with love. When I first asked the question about my grandfather I expected it to be yes. When I asked if he was standing next to me I was unsure if he would be but understand that he is not. I have had other "spirits" around me due to my life and the history of the house that I live in. This is why I asked if a spirit was standing next to me. I was still calm when I got yes as an answer. I got a bit nervous when it said it wasn't my grandmother either because the other two spirits I have not met in this lifetime. So I reread my question and tried to get more specific. It then occured to me to ask if it was a Goddess standing next to me. When I received my yes response I got excited. When I asked if it was Isis and I got a yes I was thrilled )))) She came to me in a dream awhile back and introduced herself and I thought she has been with me. I have been asking for confirmation to make sure that it is her. I have always felt it was her but didn't want to be calling her by the wrong name? *blushes* I am also one who likes to have confirmation on things a few times to make sure it's not something I am "thinking up" :) So what I received today was absolutely amazing for me. At this point I put the pendulum down, gave thanks to the Goddess Isis for her confirmation for me and meditated enjoying the love and emotion I was feeling.

An Answered Prayer

An amazing thing happened today. My parents long going battle with their tenant appears to finally be over. *fingers crossed* It is a day for much celebration. It has been an ongoing struggle for my parents for almost 2 years now. I had asked for help here on the helping hands board about a month ago and that seemed to get the ball finally rolling in my parents favor. They were at risk of losing their own house among other things. They went to court last Friday to work on the issue. Without getting into a lot of details here, when they left the courthouse they found 3 pennies lined up on the ground. :) My grandfather has been known to leave pennies for us. :)

I haven't attempted many solitary rituals yet as I am still nervous. However I attempted one yesterday. I just asked that the Goddess help this tenant become a good man, filled with love and positive energy and to help him do the right thing and find the way to purchase the house from my parents which would solve the problems all around. I'm positive it wasn't there when I left. When I came home last night I found a penny on my altar. :))

The phone rang this afternoon and it was my mother. :) The man came through with the money and they signed the papers! :)) I am sooo happy for them. This gets them out of risk of losing anything or having any lawsuits against them. He now owns the house so the mortgage payments are setup through the appropriate people now and it appears the nightmare is finally over. It has been so long that my parents have been waiting for this news.

Something ironic about all of this is today is that my grandfather passed away 8 years ago today. I find it interesting that it finally is over on this particular day. Maybe now my grandfather and my parents can all have some peace.

I light a candle in loving memory of my grandfather. May you always have the love and light with you. You will never be forgotten.

First Pendulum

I just purchased my first pendulum a couple of days ago. There is a shop in Connecticut that I love that has some Wiccan items mixed in with other things. It is actually a Dinosaur shop lol :) But it is one of the few places that I have found supplies at. They have a room that is full of crystals and stones. They actually had a small display of pendulums on their case. There were about 25 pendulums to choose from. This was my first time even handling a pendulum. I spent a few minutes looking at them, some of them were really pretty. I picked up a few and held it like it showed in the picture on the display. A couple moved a little bit but it just didn't feel right. My attention was drawn to a rose quartz crystal pendulum that was towards the back. It was actually hanging at an awkward angle because the clasp on the top was snagged. I fixed the clasp so that it was free to move about. I held the top of the string in my hand and immediately felt connected to this pendulum. I asked it to show me "yes", and it started spinning clockwise in a circle. I was surprised as this was the first one that really started moving in a set pattern rather quickly. I then asked it to show me "no" figuring it would go counter clockwise. It started swaying back and forth in a swinging motion. I asked it a few more obvious questions and I was getting pretty consistant correct responses. I then asked it if it was the correct pendulum for me and it started spinning clockwise in a circle. The circles were quite big on this question. I had gotten a resounding yes! lol :)) I brought it home with me ;)

My first Beltane Celebration

Last night was the first Beltane ritual that I participated in. I had so much fun! What an empowering, uplifting ritual!

I barely made it to ritual as I was out all day with my children and we made it home for 8:00. I was planning on taking my ritual bath and having about an hour to prepare for ritual. However my dear son Cole had other plans for me. lol He hadn't napped all day and what usually takes me no time to get him to sleep turned into quite the event last night. I sat with him until 8:45 trying several times to get him to sleep but he just wanted to play. Something that is not like him at all. My little man loves his sleep. At that time I asked my husband if he would take over for me so that I could go to ritual as I really wanted to participate last night. He was happy to take over for me. It took him until 9:30 to get him to sleep, so unfortunately that was a bit distracting for me during the ritual but I still had an amazing time.

Maialee started out the night with an absolutely amazing meditation. She started out by bringing us through a beautifull forest with the moon above us. It was such a calming image she drew me into the meditation right away. Then she led us to an area by a river that had several bonfires and firedancers. I was so excited and bursting with energy as she was continuing the meditation. She walked us through our own personal firedance and it was absolutely amazing. The best way to describe it was empowering. By leading us through that firedance she made me feel as if I can accomplish anything that I want to. It was an amazing reminder of how powerfull a person can be in manifesting their own destiny. It also made me really want to try it! As I was sitting here in the visualization I had this urge to go outside and try it! lol :) My only hesitation would be the fear of burning myself as I am not the most coordinated person. :P But the way I felt at this point I think I probably could have! By the time she finished the ritual I was filled with this powerfull, confident energy that I absolutely loved. She then led us to the circle to meet the rest of my sisters and brothers from the Mists and Lady Raven.

Lady Raven led us through the ritual. She guided us through the visualization of the May pole and the earch being blessed and consecrated. She then invited us each to tie our own ribbon to the pole that held personal meaning for us. I chose a blue one as blue is the color that I am most drawn to, and water is the element identify with the most. From there she went on to lead us in celebration.

Beltane left me with a different feeling than the other rituals that I have attended. The other rituals I had significant spiritual encounters during the rituals. By spiritual encounters I mean that I felt I was passed messages through them. Samhain I met with my grandfather, and Ostara I reconciled my intimidation of the Gods by the message I received during it.

This ritual I felt was a very powerful experience in that it was very motivational and self empowering. I was also amazed at how erotic the ritual was! *blushes* I'm assuming it's ok to say that. lol :))) The images, meditations, and the entire ceremony just had a tone to it that was very sexual in nature. I wasn't expecting that! I suppose having read about Beltane I probably should have but I didn't? lol :) All in all I am very happy I made it last night and am still feeling the positive energy from the ritual. I am definately looking forward to the next one.

Blessed Beltane!

Everything is finally back to normal :) Well pretty much ;) My back is finally doing much much better. I can walk about again without much pain. Melody is doing great. The virus that she had is finally gone and the issue with her stomach is resolved as well. I am so happy that she is finally doing better. :)

My husband's mother took care of both of my children last night so that he and I could go out. He's been wanting to go to Mohegan Sun for quite some time now so we went there last night. We had a GREAT time :)))))))))))) We had dinner at Margaritaville. It was sooo yummy. We were able to play for about 4 hours. We managed to come home with the money we went there with and a little bit extra ;) Just was very nice to be able to relax and have a good time.

He has the day off today as well. We are taking the kids to Connecticut to this dinosaur place that has a lot of Wiccan items as well :) I am very very very excited to be going there. They have a whole section filled with crystals and I am looking forward to getting the ones that were reccommended for me in the Crystal Bag request. I am also looking forward to seeing what else they have. I am thinking about possibly getting a pendulum as well if one seems to feel right to me. Below is the recommendation I received for my Crystal Bag.

"For your crystal bag request I recomend the following crystals(you can choose one or all from the following lists, whichever ones call to you :)

To aid with empathy (controlling emotions):kyanite with moonstone and rose quartz, turquoise, lapidolite, smokey quartz

To help with meditation:apophyllite, aquamarine, kyanite, amethyst, quartz crystal

To improve helath:turquoise, amethyst, ruby, emerald, kyanite

To enhance psychic and intuition:moonstone, kyanite, amethyst, tigers eye

To aid with Spiritual Improvement:kyanite, amethyst, apophyllite

The combination (in a bracelet, necklace or ring) of rose quartz, kyanite, and moonstone are good for those with empathy, and those with troubled health. When we are prone to illness it may be an indicator that our systems are out of ballance and that our immune system is low on resources. Kyanite is special because it cleanses and clears the chakras and energy feilds of negativity and energy blockages, but because it does not store the negativity, it is never in need of cleansing once it is attuned to your energies. It is also a powerful energy balancer. I highly recomend reading more about it as it appears it may help you a great deal. We have an entry for kyanite on our board that you can find by using the forum search feature.

Crystal Blessings!~Lothlorien Nightlark & The Crystal Witches"

It's a bit rainy today but if the weather holds I am hoping to take a walk with the kids on the beach at the ocean. It's not far at all from where we are going. I am bringing a couple bags to collect some seashells and rocks with them. I am very relaxed and looking forward to today.

Then to top of the day Beltane ritual is tonight. I am very excited about that as well. :))

Have a Blessed Beltane!

Tinkerbelle and a Bit of Magick

I've been having a rough week. I have a torn muscle in my back which has been causing me a good deal of pain. I decided to have a Mommy and Melody night :) as I call it when I spend some special time with my daughter. She usually goes to bed about 8:00 but I let her stay up early tonight. I looked through childrens movies available on demand and I found Tinkerbell. Talk about the perfect movie to share with my daughter. :)))

This was the first time either of us had seen the movie and it was just so beautiful and magickal. It was hard not to have this overwhelming feeling of love when watching it. I definitely would recommend sitting down and watching this one with your little ones if you have them. I have been just starting to introduce Wicca a little bit to my little ones. Just trying to teach them basic things like the love of nature and being kind and trying to help everyone. My daughter was absolutely thrilled with the movie. As I was getting her ready for bed she asked me if Fairy's were real. It was so nice to tell her Yes and mean it. :)))))))) I told her a little bit about what I have learned about them from reading on the boards in the Mists.

My daughter went to bed so happy tonight, she was just radiating with love and positive energy. It filled my heart to see her so happy. It made me really happy that something so magickal I was able to tell her really was out there and if she was good, and spread love and happiness in her life she would get to learn more about them and see many more magickal things in her life.

Wiccaning Ceremony - Newborn Baby Welcoming Ritual

Wiccaning Ceremony - Newborn Baby Welcoming Ritual

I've been reading the book Solitary Witch by Silver Ravenwolf. I came across a Welcoming ritual for a newborn baby and I really loved it so I thought I would share. :) I thought the idea of making a baby blanket with all the different ribbons on it was a beautiful idea.

Wiccaning Ceremony
A wiccaning/saining ritual welcomes a newborn into the "world family," providing protection for the infant as he or she grows in the material world. A wiccaning ceremony can be done soon after the child is born or can occur later in the year. Sometimes when parents join the Craft they ask the high priest or priestess to perform a wiccaning ceremony for children anywhere from birth to ten years old. You may live in a household where your mom and dad would be delighted if you do a wiccaning for your new sibling. If this is the case, here is a simple ritual that the family can do.
SUPPLIES: General altar setup of the four elements; illuminator candles; a new baby blanket, and eight thirteen-inch-longribbons. Carefully sew the ribbons onto the blanket, thinking of what they stand for as you sew. Each ribbon's color stands for a special gift:
White: The gift of spiritual success and free will, and the purification of Spirit.
Silver: The gift of psychism and the love of the Goddess.
Blue: The gift of communications and intelligence
Green: The gift of healing and attunement with nature.
Yellow: The gift that all needs will be met in a positive way and that joy be a constant companion.
Gold: The gift of wisdom and discernment.
Red: The gift of communication with your guardian.
Choose the ritual format in which you feel your family would be most comfortable.
INSTRUCTIONS: Cleanse the area with the four elements. Stack any physical gifts for the baby by the altar. At the core of the ritual, bless the baby with holy water (just a touch), saying:

May you be cleansed, consecrated, and regenerated
in the name of our Lord and Lady (or Spirit).
May your feet always walk the path of love
and enlightenment. So mote it be.

Then pass the four elements over the baby, asking each for love and empowerment in his or her forthcoming life.

Place the blanket around the baby saying:

Welcome back, little one!
May the Mother's blessings shower thee
with the love of family and friends
by my hand on your head I empower thee
in this Circle that never ends
I give you these gifts of life
and enchantment--

Touch each ribbon as you repeat the gift, then hold your hands over the baby and envision all the gifts coalescing into a ball of light that surrounds the baby. Draw an equal-armed cross over the baby, saying:

These gifts are yours to keep or to discard
when you come of age to understand them.
May you use them wisely. So mote it be

If there are other gifts to be given to the baby, do so now, then close the ritual in the normal way.

6 Steps to Good Magical Hygeine

graphic by MoonMomma

I found an amazing article that I wanted to share with you. The article is called 6 Steps to Good Magical Hygeine. It was written by Tess Whitehurst and featured in the New Witch Magazine. I went through the cleansing this morning and plan to try to do it regularly to help. Here is the link for the article: 6 Steps to Good Magical Hygeine. Tess has a website called Sacred Space/Magical Living. You can visit her website here: Sacred Space/Magical Living She also has a monthly newsletter called the Good Energy Newsletter that I signed up for. Enjoy!

Six Steps to Good Magical Hygiene
By Tess Whitehurst
New Witch Magazine

As magical practitioners, we walk between the worlds of form and spirit. We open ourselves up to the subtle realms, and become aware of the play of energy on a deep level. We consciously choose to create positive change in the world and in our lives, and to release negativity and that which doesn’t serve us. For these reasons, it’s important for us to regularly engage in proper magical hygiene. A daily magical hygiene practice allows us to walk between the worlds safely, effectively, and happily while becoming more and more in possession of the fullness of our magical power. It cleanses us of psychic debris and energetic blocks, allowing us to be clear channels of magical information and power.

I’ve outlined some effective magical hygiene practices that can be incorporated into your daily meditation. I often work with Archangel Michael to help with magical hygiene, and include him in the descriptions of several practices below, but feel free to work with the Goddess, God, and/or any other appropriate being(s) of your choice.

1) Grounding and Centering

Being grounded means being connected to the energy of the earth. For magical practitioners, I recommend doing this visualization every day, and before any magical endeavor. Once you’ve practiced it for a while, you’ll be able to immediately establish your connection with the earth, no matter where you are or what you’re doing. As you practice this exercise regularly, you will find that you feel safer, more confident, more joyful, more in touch with your intuition.

Sit in a comfortable position with your spine straight and your eyes closed. You can play drum or trance music with drums if you want, or any sort of trancy music with an earthy sound. Take some deep breaths until you feel your body relax; call on Mother Earth and ask for Her blessing in connecting with Her. Visualize very bright white light drenching your face and turning your face into light; all the muscles, behind the eyes, the cheeks, the inside of the mouth, everything. Now let the white light fill your entire head and turn your head into light. Slowly continue filling every body part with light: your neck, throat, shoulders, back, arms, wrists, fingers, organs, legs, and feet. When you get to your feet, feel and see your entire body so drenched in the light that it is the light. Continue to breathe deeply.

Next, become aware of your spine. Turn your awareness to the end of your spine; see and feel your tailbone grow downward like a root. See this root — made of very bright white light — extend downward, feel it moving down and down, through the deep and receptive earth. Then see it start to expand, branch, and spread while it is still moving down and down. Take your time and experience the earth as your roots continue to move slowly down.Eventually your roots enter the core of the earth. The core is filled with the same blindingly bright white light that fills your body. This is Earth Light. Your light connects with it and you are now one with the core of the earth. As you connect, the light gets even brighter. Take time to experience this wonderful feeling. Now, move your attention back to your body. Begin to see your light growing upward like a tree; and in fact, you are a tree, and your body is a part of the trunk. The tree that you are is made of bright white light, and its roots extend all the way into the core of the earth. Reach your branches high into the sky. If it is day, see your leaves basking in the sunlight and moving in the breeze. If it is night, see your branches up among the stars. Now, much like trees pull nourishing sunlight in through their leaves, you see that you are receiving clear sparkly rainbow energy from the sky. This is Universal Light. Let it move in through your leaves and downward into your trunk, mixing with the white light. Let it slowly move toward your body and see it enter your head. From your head, it moves throughout the rest of your body. This Universal Light now moves slowly down your roots, continuing to mix with the Earth Light as it moves. Eventually, it reaches the core of the Earth. Your energy is now connected with and nourished by the Earth and Sky, and you are a bridge between the two. Allow yourself to bask in the feeling of balanced energy and connectedness.

2) Cord Cutting

Psychic and/or energetic cords can become attached to our energy fields in a number of ways, including fear, guilt, and limiting beliefs. Once such a cord is attached, it drains energy and creates imbalance. Cords can be connected to people, past situations, fears about the future, or issues like money or romance. I recommend doing this cord-cutting exercise following the grounding exercise.

Sit with your spine straight. Breathe deeply and consciously relax your body. Notice if you are holding ontoany fear or tension and let yourself release it. Ask Archangel Michael (or your chosen patron deity) to cut any psychic cords of attachment that may be connected to your energy field. Continue to breathe deeply and sit quietly for a little while longer and feel the cords being cut. Then take a deep breath and move on feeling free.

I find that, when used as part of my daily magical hygiene, this exercise lifts my mood and increases energy.

3) Aura Cleansing

When your aura, the sphere of light described above, is sparkly clean, you are a clear channel of magical power, possessed of clarity and positive energy. Auras absorb negativity, so it’s important to cleanse them regularly. After the cord-cutting exercise, or any time you feel that you may have absorbed negativity, you can perform this cleansing.

Sit with your spine straight and breathe deeply. Ask Archangel Michael (or your patron deity) to remove alldarkness, heaviness, and/or negativity from your aura. Visualize a magical vacuum that looks sort of like a sword made of bright white light; all dark spots or debris in your aura and energy field get sucked out with the vacuum. Any lingering negativity from previously cut cords gets vacuumed up as well. When you feel that this is finished, ask that your aura be filled with cleansing and energizing light, which replenishes and rebalances your energy field.

4) Chakra Clearing

You know when the weather person points out a spiraling swirl of air that is the cause of a hurricane? Chakras are places in our energy field that swirl and vibrate with a specific type of energy in much the same way (but in miniature!) Clearing them on a regular basis is important because it helps us clear away unhelpful patterns and negative energy while opening us up to the fullness and beauty of life.

Each chakra spins in a circle and corresponds with a color. Everyone’s sixth sense perceives differently, so you may or may not actually perceive the chakra as the color to which it is assigned. The color designation is just a helpful bridge to perceiving something that is beyond the scope of our five primary senses.

As you begin to become familiar with your chakras (see sidebar) you’ll start to feel a connection between your mind, body, and emotions like never before. You’ll also know when they are especially balanced or when you have an energetic block or any sort of issue with the healthy flow of energy in one or more of them. This knowledge allows you to work on the energetic level to bring yourself back into a holistic state of balance and harmony.

I recommend clearing your chakras after grounding, cord cutting, and cleansing the aura.

Sit with your spine straight. Close your eyes and consciously relax your muscles and organs. Take some deep breaths and consciously relax your mind. Now, visualize a concentrated beam of white light moving upward from the core of the earth. Know that this light is vibrating at a very high frequency and is a high-powered cleansing tool. Become aware of the red spiraling and swirling light at the base of your spine. See the beam of light enter the middle of this chakra. As the light enters, it makes the chakra brighten and spin at a rapid pace. The red becomes more vibrant and any darkness or heaviness dissolves away. Take as much time as you need with this. Now the light moves up to the orange chakra below your bellybutton. It enters the center of this chakra and causes it to brighten and glow. See it spinning vertically, emanating light from the front and back of your body. See the beam of light moving up to the yellow spiraling light spinning vertically half way between your bellybutton and your heart. The yellow becomes brighter and clearer. The beam now moves up to the vertically spinning green energy at your heart. This creates a great flowering of energy at your heart, and the green becomes more emerald and brilliant. Continue to see the beam move up to the vertically spinning blue energy at your throat. When the light enters the center of the swirl, the blue light becomes brighter and less dense. Let the light move up to the swirl of indigo energy on your forehead above and between your eyebrows. The indigo energy brightens and glows. Next, the light moves out through the purple and/or white swirl of energy spinning horizontally at the crown of your head. This chakra also becomes brighter and more vibrant. Take some deep breaths and continue to relax, revisiting any chakra that still feels out of balance in any way. Continue until you feel that your chakras feel totally cleansed, open, and balanced.

5) Energetic Protection

When you’re finished with the grounding, cord cutting, aura cleansing, and chakra clearing, it’s important to finish with a powerful protection.

Sit with your spine straight. Take some deep breaths and relax. Ask the God/dess to fill the sphere of energy around you with protective light through which no negativity may enter, and through which all vibrations that are loving and positive may enter easily. This light may be indigo, white, pink, or green; choose the color that feels like it would be most effective for you today.

This protective sphere of light will remain powerful for at least six hours, and gradually fade for another six. You can renew it by doing a quick visualization and prayer.

6) Get in the Habit

It may seem like a lot at first, but once you get into the habit of doing these exercises they will become second nature. Maintaining good magical hygiene brings success to your magical endeavors and every aspect of your life.
