Chakra Balancing Massage and Mist

Merry Meet :)

Every once in awhile I treat myself and go to the spa near my house, Puffers. They have this one massage that I absolutely am hooked on. It is the chakra balancing massage. I try to go every couple months when I notice that I am getting more stressed then usual. It is a 50 minute massage that is amazing! :) One of the best things though is the girl who always does my massage is skilled in Reiki as well. Still working on improving my Reiki it is a rather neat experience to have it done on myself. On each chakra massage they have me choose a scent that is appealing to me on that day by passing a sample in front of my nose with my eyes closed. Each scent is related to one of the chakra's. I typically wind up choosing the intuition chakra each time. However last time I went, it had been about 5 months since my last massage and I chose the Root Chakra scent.

Puffers deals with a line called Aveda. Aveda has a spray mist for each of the chakra's. I now have 2 in my collection, intuition and root. :) I could not love these sprays more. If I am feeling a bit stressed I will spray the root chakra scent on myself. When I am doing ritual or energy work I often will spray the intuition chakra scent to help get me in the mood. :) Aromatherapy can be very powerful in affecting your mind and mood.

For anyone who is interested in checking out the Chakra Spray Mists from Aveda that I am using you can find them here: http://www.aveda.com/templates/products2/mpp.tmpl?CATEGORY_ID=CATEGORY21597 They are amazing! :)

Let's Get It On :)

New Year, new me :) At the end of 2009 I was really sick for a few months. I also quit smoking due to being sick. Yayyy :) I haven't smoked in over 2 months now. During that time I managed to pack on close to 20 lbs. Unfortunately my weight is definately something that causes me stress. It makes me sluggish and can cause a bit of depression. So I am fully committed to getting it back down :)))

I joined a gym in the first week of January. My timing isn't brilliant as everyone is doing the same thing right now. lol That's ok though. A good friend of mine goes to a gym in the center of my town and they actually have child sitting services. I was so psyched to learn that. Definitely makes it easier if I have someone who can watch my two little ones while I work out. I've been working out nearly every day since I joined about a week and a half ago. I typically do the treadmill for 20 minutes to work out and then take a group class.

My first class was a weight class. Also my first lesson in doing what's right for me at the gym. I was stuck in the front of the class as the class was packed, and definitely was using more weight then I should have. I was sooo nervous so I pushed to finish everything they were doing. I completed the class, could barely move and spent the next three days nursing two thigh muscles that I could barely move on. Going up and down stairs was excrutiating for a few days. Ooops! First lesson learned. I still went to the gym every day though ;) Just took it a lot easier. lol

My first yoga class was last week and I could not have loved it more. :))) I was amazed at how much my studies of Wicca helped me in yoga! I learned that yoga is definitely about concentration and controlling your mind to be able to do the poses and stretches. One of the poses the bird pose I think it was called I watched the instructor demonstrate in front of the class. She put her hands on the ground, and got her knees to rest on her elbows so that she was supporting her entire body on just her hands. I was watching going, "yeah right" lol no chance I'm going to be able to do that. I took a deep breath and focused. I was absolutely amazed when I got it!!!! I actually held it for about 20 seconds until I lost concentration realizing I was doing it and got excited. Once I broke concentration I fell on my face. Literally.... :) Thank goodness I learned to put myself in the back of the classroom till I figure out what I'm doing. :)

I joined a dance class last night that I just smiled through the whole thing. It was sooo much fun! The music motivated me to keep moving. They make the classroom darker and even had a disco ball at the top. Felt like I was at a dance club but was working out. Defiitely another class that suits me well and will be on my repeat list.

I've been working out a couple weeks and the scale hasn't moved too much. About a pound. I have had great success in the past with weight watchers so I resigned up again this morning. :) I am very excited to be back on the program. If anyone else is a member of weight watchers you can add me, I'm under Bltshw. :) Would love to hear from you.

So this is where I am at right now. New Year, new me. I am going to get myself back in shape and healthy so that I am better in my Wiccan studies and healing.

Wiccan Creation Myth

I am working on lesson 8 in my studies at Sacred Mists. For my studies I was asked to describe the Creation Myth. The lesson detailed Starhawk's creation myth for those that are familiar with it. I had a bit of a hard time grasping it so I went on to do some additional research to gain a better understanding of it.

I read several Wiccan creation myths to find one that settled well with me. The majority of the myths that I read seem to agree that in the beginning their was one, the all, our Goddess. She was in the universe as the earth was not created at this point. Starhawk goes on to describe the Goddess, our Lady as seeing her image reflected in space and she grew to love this image, and the image came to take on it’s own being becoming a second Goddess known as Miria. As the Lady becomes consumed with ecstasy and love she rains down an energy and vibration that creates the world we have come to know. The vibrations become to much for the Goddess Miria and she slowly moves away from the Lady. Her distance leads her to become male and come into being the Lord that we know today.

I must confess, the first thing that jumped out at me when reading these myths was that the myths involved the Lady being first. Being brought up Protestant I was schooled in the Adam and Eve creation myth and I found it interesting to see how that myth had been taken from the Pagan myth and turned about to be man coming first. My difficulty with this Starhawk’s myth is that the Lord doesn’t come into being until later and that he originates as a female. I suppose difficulty may be too harsh of a word. After reading the myths I have developed a preference for Llewellyn’s myth which is as follows.

A long time ago the world was in darkness and consisted of nothingness.

From this nothingness, spirit created our Lady.

The lady danced in the heavens. While she danced sparks of light came from her giving birth to the stars and planets. She twirled as she danced and the planets and stars began to move with her in the universe. Her dancing quickened and the oceans and mountains were formed on earth. As she chanted words of joy and love, these words fell to the earth creating the trees and flower.

Her breath created a pure white light creating the colors of the universe giving everything a vibrant beauty of color. Her laughter gave the sounds of the running streams, lappings of the lakes, and roars of the ocean waves. Her tears of joy become the rain.

When she slowed her dancing our Lady wanted a companion to share with all the joy that she had created. Spirit created the Lord as her soul mate. The Lord was made half spirit and half animal so that together the Lord and Lady could populate the planet Earth. The Lord and Lady created angels and power spirits to guide the population. Though they are not always seen they are always with us.

As the population started to grow and become prosperous the Lord and Lady saw a need for healers among them. The Lord and Lady drew the energy from the realm of the angels, power animals and humans, to create the Witches. Witches were given the wisdom of the Lord and Lady, the ability to heal, and the art of magic. They were taught how to talk to the spirits and how to communicate with the energies or earth, air, fire, water and spirit, and how to commune with the animal and plant kingdom.

The myth goes on to explain the history of the witch and how we came to be today. I find this myth very comforting, and as I have learned in my studies to follow my own path and my heart and soul this is the myth that I have taken close to my heart. I respect all the creation myths that I read and I recognize that everyone will find the one that settles best with them on their path. One of my reasons for loving Wicca so much is the ability to learn and discover and choose my own path. :)

Love and Blessings
