A Rainbow Meditation and Journey to Subconscious

Merry Meet :)

So I had the opportunity for a bit of time off yesterday. My Mom was nice enough to take Cole for the afternoon.  I immediately headed for my favorite place.  Shopping? no  I headed straight to Barnes and Noble to tuck myself in a little corner of the cafe with a Starbucks coffee to read and enjoy the quiet of the afternoon.  Surrounded by new books and unlimited information and things to explore I could not be a happier camper.

The past few weeks have been a bit stressful for me.. hmmm past few weeks? Ok life in general. :) lol A lot of times I find myself saying I just need time to think, and I have a difficult time understanding where my frustration is coming from when I am in fact quite happy with my life. It's something I have thought about a lot trying to work out how to become more patient and happy all the time.  I'm a perfectionist. ;)

I was all but skipping up the escalator and I immediately headed to the New Age section which houses a brilliant selection of books on wicca and holistic healing.  As I got there this book just lit up with sparks and came flying off the shelf into my hand! Unreal right? Well yeah ;) wee bit exaggerated :) My hand did however start to vibrate, something that has happened since I got my Reiki attunement and a book called "Discovering Your Past Lives - The Best Book of Reincarnation You'll Ever Read in this Lifetime" seemed to beg to me to be read.  I took the book off the shelf and headed back downstairs to get comfy in the cafe area.

I was expecting to learn about Past Life Regression.  Something that I'm learning more about and is definitely an interest to me at this time.  What I found however was an answer to the question that's been driving me nuts the past few weeks.  Why am I short on patience and frustrated and finding myself snapping when I'm not wanting to be.

Most of us know we have a conscious and a subconscious.  The subconscious making up the majority of our brain and the conscious being the area we use the most.  The subconscious is where we retain memories of past lives.  It's like a deluxe filing cabinet with everything we've ever seen sorted out into files.  The majority of these files are sorted by emotion. We can access our subconscious by relaxing. :) Sounds simple right?

Relaxation is the art of allowing your physical body to completely let go of all tension, while allowing your conscious mind to free itself of all cares and worries.  As your conscious mind relaxes, your subconscious becomes open and more aware. As Wiccans we are taught to meditate to achieve this state.  What I didn't realize was how often it can be done naturally in normal day to day activities as well.  Some examples are when you are being creative, reading a book, watching a movie, daydreaming, or using your imagination.  That feeling that you're there but not really? :)  When you are able to reach this state you will reduce the amount of stress and fatigue and will become more in tune with yourself.  You will experience more energy and better health.  It will also help to increase your psychic awareness by opening your natural powers of intuition and precognition.

As a mom, I don't get a lot of time to read or be creative or even watch tv anymore. The majority of my time is spent cooking cleaning etc.  I've always known I was calmer in the summer but attributed it to being outside in nature.  I daydream a lot more in summer.  I work in my garden in the summer.  I take more walks in the summer. I will sit outside and read books in the summer as I watch my children play.  All of these activities allow me to be in a state to access my subconscious.  In the winter I tend to work a lot more. Since I am inside I will work while I am watching the kids rather then read a book.  Finding this book helped me to understand why I am stressed more lately and now that I know how to correct it I intend to put the work down a bit more and pick up a book, and take a few more bubble baths. :) I need to work with meditations more as well.  I need to make that time at night to set aside some quiet time and really start working with them.  I found a beautiful one in the book that I believe would help to clear your chakras as well so I thought I would share. :) I hope you enjoy ;)

Find a comfortable chair to sit in that supports your neck, or a couch, where you can stretch out.  Begin to relax by breathing deeply.  Take a deep breath in and let it out slowly.  Focus your attention and your awareness on your breathing for a few moments.  Notice how the simple act of breathing begins to relax you, and notice how calm you are beginning to feel.  Listen to the sound of your breathing as you breathe in and breathe out, slowly and naturally.  Begin to imagine that you're breathing in a feeling of relaxation and a sense of well-being, and that you're breathing out all the tensions and unnecessary thoughts that crowd your conscious mind.

Breathe in the relaxation...breathe out the tension. Breathe in the calmness and the quiet...breathe out the noise and disturbances.  Breathe in the relaxation and fel it flow naturally through you.  Feel all your muscles beginning to relax as they let go of tension and tightness.  Feel the relaxation flowing through your entire body...feeling all your muscles relax...feeling all your nerves relax...feeling every part of your body become totally relaxed and comfortable.  Enjoy feeling calm and quiet, relaxed and peaceful.

*********

As you continue to breathe slowly and naturally feeling relaxed and peaceful, and calm and quiet within yourself, imagina a beautiful rainbow above you.  The rainbow has been formed by early morning rainfall, and by the sunshine that filters through clouds.  The colors are vibrant and pure...a shimmering spectrum of colors that blend into one another. It's the most beautiful rainbow you've ever seen.  It surrounds you like a perfect dome that touches the sky and the earth.  You feel like you could almost reach out and touch the rainbow.  You feel like you could breathe in the colors and you could be inside the colors.  You feel like you could travel the rainbow from beginning to end, and go into the sky and the universe at the top of the rainbow.

You can feel yourself rising up into the rainbow...floating upward...rising slowly and naturally into the color red at the bottom of the rainbow.  You can feel the color all around you as you breathe in the color, you begin to experience the color inside of you.  As you absorb the color within your mind, you feel your mind opening up and expanding into the color.  You feel your mind becoming more and more aware, and you experience wonderful feeling of energy as you begin to travel the colors of the rainbow.

You can feel yourself rising up into the color orange in the rainbow.  As you breathe in the color, you feel yourself become the color.  You feel the color inside you and all around you.  The color makes you feel like you're standing on the earth and sky at the same time.  As you absorb the color within you, you experience an exhilarating feeling of freedom.  You find yourself expanding into the rainbow and rising upward into the color yellow.

As you breathe in the color yellow, you can feel the color with your mind.  You feel your mind opening up more and more, and feel yourself becoming more and more aware.  You feel like you understand the quality and nature of the rainbow, and understand the quality and nature of inner truth and knowledge.  As you experience the color yellow within your mind,, you feel an awareness opening up inside of you..expanding and increasing you open up your mind even more.

You begin to move more easily through the colors now, expanding the unique energies and vibrations of each color.  You feel the color green, and as you experience the color within you, you become more in touch with your inner feelings.  You feel the color green with your emotions, and it feels rejuvenating and nourishing.  You're aware that the color nourishes your body as well as your mind.  You feel refreshed and healthy, as your body and your mind experience harmony within themselves.

You rise up smoothly into the color blue in the rainbow.  As you enter the color, you feel very peaceful and tranquil.  You almost feel your thoughts are words, and that your words are images put into action by your feelings. You feel like you can say and see your thoughts at the same time and they really are one and the same, with no difference between the thought and the way you experience a wonderful sense of knowing and understanding that the sky and the earth are really one and the same, with no difference between the universe and you.

As you become aware of this, you find yourself inside the color indigo...almost at the top of the rainbow.  As you breathe in the color of psychic awareness and true inner knowledge, you feel your mind completely opening up and expanding into ever-widening horizons that go beyond what can be phsyically seen and touched.  You experience your awareness with an understanding and knowledge that goes beyond words and feelings.  As you recognize and accept this awareness within yourself, you reach the top of the rainbow.

The color violet at the top of the rainbow inspires a fewwling of love and reverence inside of you.  You realize that you've opened your mind's awareness, and you've allowed yourself to being to experience your true spiritual nature.  You've allowed yourself to experience your soul, and to understand all that is within you.

Above the rainbow, you notice a shimmering white mist.  The mist looks comforting and warm, and feels protective and secure as you wrap it around you, like a cloak of awareness.

*********

As you reenter the rainbow, you feel yourself gradually descending through all the colors you've experienced.  You find yourself blending into the colors of violet, ,indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange and red.  You find yourself standing on the ground again, looking up at the rainbow above you.  You notice the sunshine, as it begins to disperse all the clouds.  the sun feels pleasantly warm and the sunshine is very bright.  As you reflect on what you experienced as you felt your mind opening up and becoming more aware, you feel like you've discovered a special treasure within yourself.

I hope you enjoy it :)))

The Wolf Moon or Cold Moon

Merry Meet :)

I hope everyone has a Blessed Esbat tonight :) Even if you don't intend to work some magick tonight, I truly hope you'll take a moment to step outside and soak up a bit of the moonlight.  I am hoping the weather will cooperate tonight and allow us to be able to see her clearly.

January's full moon is known as the Wolf Moon, Cold Moon, or Chaste Moon. Suitably named if you live somewhere cold like I do. :) As I look across the field behind my house completely covered in snow and the icicles hanging from the trees I do believe Cold Moon is quite accurate of a name.  Native Americans called this full moon the Wolf Moon as they listened to the wolves howling in the distance while they tried to stay warm.

If you are planning to work with the full moon tonight it is a great time to work with magick relating to protection, both physical and spiritual.  It is also a great time to work on developing your inner self and advancing yourself spiritually.

When working tonight consider incorporating some of the following into your magick.

  • Colors: Black and white, silver
  • Gemstones: Hematite
  • Trees: Birch, Hazel
  • Gods: Inanna, Freyja
  • Herbs: Thistle, nuts and seeds, marjoram
  • Element: Air
Love and Blessings,

Are You an Adult Indigo?

Indigo Adults: Understanding Who You Are and What You Can BecomeI found this post while perusing the Mists.  I thought it was something that some of you may enjoy as well ;) It's something I will go into discussing more in the future, but for now....see if any of this sounds familiar to you.

Are You an Adult Indigo?

Yes, You can be an adult Indigo. They did not JUST start coming in now, the numbers have just been increasing more and more til there are so many we finally can not ignore them. Yeay!!! Are you an adult Indigo?

Please note, I (Wendy Chapman) am the first person to publish anything about indigo adults. Everything else I had heard or read prior to 2001 said that indigo children started in the late 70s and early 80s. I received thousands of emails in 1999 and 2000 from people who claimed to be adult indigo children. These people were over 25, and mostly over 30 years old, and had very similar characteristics to indigo children, plus or minus a few. The differences to indigo children were reliably coming up in nearly every letter. I collated this data and came up with a list of indigo adult characteristics, published here in Feb. 2001. The list has born the test of time, with tens of thousands more people recognizing themselves and writing to me. I am very glad to have made this contribution to the world!

Many indigos seem to find solace in finally knowing why they are different from the general population and in knowing they are not completely alone. I began the indigo adults mailing list on yahoogroups in April 2001, which now in 2005 has over 2100 members and the indigo-adults-moderated (on topic) list, which has over 700 members. Follow the links at the bottom of the page to join either of these. These lists are virtual communities for indigo adults. I am writing a book about indigo adults to help spread the word to reach more indigos.

Indigo Children

Another article for you as well :))

Indigo Children

by Debra Hegerle

("The Indigo Child is a boy or girl who displays a new and unusual set of psychological attributes, revealing a pattern of behavior generally undocumented before. This pattern has singularly unique factors that call for parents and teachers to change their treatment and upbringing of these kids to assist them in achieving balance and harmony in their lives, and to help them avoid frustration."
-- Lee Carroll & Jan Tober)

I have a seven-year-old Indigo son. I've been working as a teacher's aide in his classrooms through preschool, kindergarten, and now first grade, and I've observed his interactions with Indigos and non-Indigos of all ages. It's been interesting! In fact, trying to put it all down in writing has been a challenge because the children do so many subtle things.

Indigos process their emotions differently than non Indigos because they have high self-esteem and strong integrity. They can read you like an open book and quickly notice and neutralize any hidden agendas or attempts to manipulate them, however subtly. In fact, they can see your hidden agendas even if you can't! They have inherently strong determination to work things through for themselves and only want outside guidance if it's presented to them with respect and within a format of true choice. They prefer to work situations out for themselves.

They come in with their intentions and gifts easily identifiable from birth. They can suck up knowledge like a sponge, especially if they like or are drawn to a subject, which makes them very advanced in their areas of interest. Experiencing life helps them learn best, so they create the experiences they need to help them with their current problem or area where they need to grow. They respond best when treated like a respected adult.

Not only are they masters at intuitively picking up on hidden agendas or motives, but they are equally masterful at turning those agendas back onto the people using them, especially their parents. Psychological "button pushing" often causes them to be labeled as nonconformists. If they notice that there is a hidden motive behind your attempt to get them to do something, they will resist strongly and feel perfectly justified in doing so. From their point of view, if you're not doing your work in the relationship, they can challenge you on it.

When I called them good "button pushers" what I really meant is that they're working with us adults to help us recognize where we are holding and using old, subtle patterns to manipulate them, which used to work but will no longer. So if you are constantly getting resistance from an Indigo, check yourself first. They may be holding up a mirror for you, or be asking you, in a nonconformist way, for help in finding new boundaries, fine-tuning their own skills or talents, or going to the next level of growth.

Indigos have innate healing abilities that are usually already active; however, they may not know that they are using them! The most spectacular thing I observed was how they formed groups, adjusting and spacing themselves, especially around another child who might have been sick or upset — sitting and blending their energy field with that child's. Most often, they paired up one on one, but sometimes they formed groups and sat in either a triangular or diamond-shaped pattern. It wasn't done in an obvious way, but very subtly. When finished, they were off to something else.

It was amazing. They just did it, but they didn't want to discuss it; in some cases, they weren't even consciously aware of what they were doing or why! It was so natural to them that if a child needed something from the Indigos, they just went and sat next to them for a while, not even necessarily talking, and then they separated.

Another interesting thing was that, off and on throughout the year, the Indigos went through periods of attracting and repelling each other, or periods of really needing each other's company and then of not needing it. I'm not totally clear on this, but it seems to coincide with individual personal development. The closeness and concern they had for each other was never lost during those periods of separation, but they wouldn't go back together, either, until all was right for them.

I'll give you one little story regarding my Indigo son. Let me give you the background: My husband and his family are Chinese Americans, and I am of German/Finnish heritage. My husband's family places great emphasis on education, and the siblings were brought up with a strong need to succeed. This still sometimes spills over onto their children, in the form of whose are better, smarter, and faster. My husband and I agree about not participating in all this competitiveness, but that doesn't stop it from happening around us. To top it off, consider that out of the five grandchildren, my son is the only boy — that is, the only male heir — and I think you'll get a pretty clear picture of the undercurrents.

We were at my in-laws' house on Christmas day, and my son, who was almost four years old at the time, was showing off his Millennium Falcon™ (a Star Wars™ toy that was meant for a six-year-old) that he had received from us that morning. It was the giant one that opens up, and inside were all kinds of little compartments, similarly but not identically shaped. He wasn't interested in that portion of the toy at that time. He was only interested in pretending to fly it and shoot the rockets — living out his fantasies. One of his uncles asked to play with it and proceeded to take all the little doors off of all the compartments. He handed them to my son in a pile and asked, "Can you put this back together?"

It was a setup! All the doors were the same color, and the differences in shape and size were very subtle. Oh, and the tone of voice he used — like butter wouldn't melt in his mouth. This uncle has three daughters and a whole lot of personal agendas, so his actions were not a total surprise, but . . . I absolutely love what happened next.

I started to intervene, and my son turned and looked me, dead in the eye, with a look on his face I'll never forget. He looked at me to see what I was going to do, and in the instant that it took for him to read my intentions, which were of Mommy Lioness — I'm not going to let this happen to my son — he responded just as quickly. He gave me a look that said, Back off, Mom, I'm taking this one on myself, and I felt the energy shift as he took command of the entire room. Everyone stopped talking and turned to look over at him. He calmly said to his uncle, "I don't know. I've never done that before; let me see." Then he proceeded to put that thing back together quickly and accurately!

When he was done, the energy shifted again, and he looked over at me as if to ask, "Was that okay?" I just smiled and said, "Good job." Everyone there caught the double meaning, including his uncle, who has never since done anything like that to my son or to anyone else's child in our presence.

No direct comments were made that night about the situation. We all just knew that we were each going to process it individually and privately, each getting our own lesson — all because this little one decided to learn for himself.

Indigos are born masters — each and every one! We have to understand that they fully expect every one of us to do what they are doing naturally, and if we don't, they keep pushing our buttons until we get it right — that is, until we become the masters of our own lives. So when my son did his thing, he taught everyone there a quiet lesson, including himself.

For me, the lesson was, let him go; despite his age, he is capable. Stay aware and watch the process. The process in this case was very interesting. He quickly and accurately sized up the situation, and determined his response based on what he wanted to experience. After making sure he had backup, he chose to confront the person directly, and at that point, he immediately called up all the energies necessary to complete the task. Afterward, he released it all back just as quickly and went back to his own business.

I've witnessed many similar situations that he or other Indigos handled in the same way. They will size up a situation and then choose their actions based on what they want to experience at the time. The only adjustments to this pattern that I've seen were based on what type of backup they had. In a safe environment, they have consistently used this pattern.

Safety is very important, because all children need to feel safe to fully explore their universe. For Indigos, safety means that it's okay to do things differently! Giving everyone this space is the best thing we can do for children and for ourselves.

Empaths often Misdiagnosed

Merry Meet :)))

For those who know me or have been following my blog you may know that I am an Empath. With my gift I am highly sensitive to the energies of people and places in which I visit.   Through a lot of hard work learning to control and develop this talent I am now quite comfortable in calling it a gift, and am able to use it to help others.  Part of my involvement at Sacred Mists is to teach the Empath extension class and help others learn to control and develop their gift if they so choose.  I have been doing this for over a year now.

One of the things I have noticed with all of my students introductions and I find a bit alarming is how many of them have been what I would call "misdiagnosed" with anxiety disorders and depression and are being medicated for it.  While I am no doctor, and I am not wishing to pass judgement on any of the doctors I can tell you that a large number of my students are off their medication within the time they spend on the course or shortly thereafter. So why does this happen?

Most doctors may not be aware of what an Empath is, let alone how to treat it without medications.  It is becoming something that is being talked about more as more of us are realizing that there is nothing wrong with us, we have a gift that we need to learn how to manage.  As empaths we are hypersensitive to the energies of those around us.  Without being aware not only can we sense that energy but a lot of times that energy can be taken on as our own.  Hence why some empaths may be depressed more often, may experience a lot of mood swings, or become anxious.  Think about it this way, if you walked into a grocery store to get a gallon of milk and felt the emotion of every single person you walked by would that not affect your mood? Think about it......

Empaths can also take on actual illnesses of those around us.  We may not actually be sick but may still exhibit all the symptoms.  It is also possible to feel the energy that has been left in an environment of a place that you visit.  Hospitals and funeral homes can be an absolute nightmare for us.

The good news ;) This gift can be controlled.  No it does not have to be controlled with medicine.  There are two techniques fundamental to controlling this gift......grounding.... and shielding.  For those not familiar with what those things are you may be thinking ok sure.  A lot of what goes on is in and around us has to do with energy.  Once you start learning to control that energy you'd be amazed what we are capable of.  Both of these skills can take a bit of time to learn and there are many many variations on them, but they can do wonders to improving a person's wellbeing, even if you are not an empath.  It is impossible for me to teach you how to ground and shield in a blog entry but I can give you a simple example of each one. Of course as with anything you have to believe that things will work.  Your intentions and belief is core to making things happen for you.

Grounding - A simple exercise I like to ground can actually be done in the shower. :P :) As the water is running over you picture it pushing all the negative energy out of your body and down the drain and replacing it with positive energies.  Have anything bothering you, focus on it and let it go down the drain.  Once you finish you should feel refreshed and relaxed.  This is just one very quick variation on the many many ways to accomplish this. In essence it is a way to manipulate the energy that you are carrying to be positive and to inform your subconscious what to focus on.

Shielding - The act of shielding is like creating a magickal field around yourself to protect yourself from negative or unwanted energy.  You will want to ground before you attempt to put up a shield.  A simple shield that you can play with to begin with is the bubble shield.  Picture energy coming up around your body to form a "bubble" around you.  You can play with the colors texture etc to find what's most comfortable for you.  The outside of the shield will keep out negative energy and the inside will take the positive energy you are putting out and bounce it back to you to keep you strong.  :))

If you are unsure if you are an empath, here are a couple links to articles which may help you.

7 Signs You're an Empath
What Kind of Empath are You?

So while I don't necessarily disagree with the use of medicines to help Empaths in the beginning, I would love to see Empathy become more well known and have people start to work with alternative methods to the medicines to handle it.  Not only would they be off of the medications but more people with this gift would be able to do what we're intended to and help others.  So many times an Empath will read the description and say wow all this time I thought there was something wrong with me.  There is nothing wrong with you, it is not a curse it can be managed and hopefully made to feel as if it is the gift that it was intended to be.

Love and Blessings to You All
