Herbal Ice Cubes!
Merry Meet :)))
So I saw this idea while perusing the internet for my studies and thought it was really cute. Herbal ice cubes!! :))) Super easy to make and they look fantastic! My kids have been really excited over this. They've actually been requesting water just to get the herbal ice cubes. Now there are two ways to do this that I know of. The first adds a little flavor to your drinks and looks really pretty, the second is to help you store some of those herbs for the winter.
In the first method choose herbs that you would want to have in your drink. For example, mint leaves, small slices of lemon, blackberries, rose hips, hibiscus, lemon balm, lavender flowers.. The possibilities are endless. They also look quite cute to serve to guests that you may have over to visit.
The second method is an alternative to drying herbs for the winter. Some herbs, like chives, just aren't good when they are dried. This is a method that will help to preserve them for awhile for you so that you can have them during those winter months. For this you want to select the herbs that you want to use. Bring them in and make sure you wash them well. Clean them up by removing any stemps, or other bits of the plant that you don't want to use. Cut them back into small pieces that will fit into an ice cube tray. Fill each individual ice cube space with herbs. Be sure to leave enough room to make sure water covers the top completely. Pop them in the freezer and let them freeze. You can then store them in the freezer in zip lock storage bags and label the bags. :)))
Love and Blessings,
