Merry Meet :)))
The air is starting to get crisp as Winter fast approaches. Winter always makes me think of cinnamon as it seems I start using cinnamon in everything I can at this time of year. :))))) One of the things I add it to is my coffee and tea. :)))) Cinnamon is an herb that has been used for centuries in many different cultures. As a matter of fact, many years ago, cinnamon was actually more precious then gold and considered a highly sought after gift. Cinnamon comes from a greek word meaning sweet wood. It comes from the inside bark of a cinnamon tree. The cinnamon tree is an evergreen tree in the Laurel family. The bark is set out to dry and this is what forms the scrolls that you so commonly see in cinnamon sticks.
Cinnamon is most commonly used to add flavor in many products and in baking. Most people are probably familiar with adding it to cakes, breads, and cookies, and apple ciders. How about cinnamon toast? :))))) However, how many of you know that cinnamon also has many medicinal benefits as well?
Cinnamon is wonderful for many digestive problems. It can help improve circulation and the flow of energy in the stomach and uterus, makung it very beneficial in aiding digestion. In small amounts it can help to relieve gas in the stomach. Cinnamon can also be used to help with nausea, morning sickness, intestinal cramps, and to increase appetites.
If you have a cold, cinnamon is a wonderful choice as well. It can help to sooth sore throats and coughs. It can also help with viral symptoms of the flu. It actually will kill many of the disease causing fungi and viruses. So for someone like me who has Candida, this herb can help quite a bit with keeping exess yeast under control. Ladies, add a bit to your diet every day to keep those yeast infections away. :)))
For those that may have diabetes, cinnamon can help metabolise sugar properly. It is suggested that taking 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon with each meal can help keep blood sugar levels normal.
Spiritually, cinnamon is good for personal protection. It can enhance our spiritual vibrations and stimulate clairvoyance. It can also help us to concentrate on whatever task we have at hand.
Now I am off to light some cinnamon incense. lol :))) Have an amazing day!
Love and Blessings,
