Full Wolf Moon

Full Wolf Moon

Merry Meet,

Full Wolf Moon Blessings to you all. :))) Tonight we celebrate the Wolf Moon. Wolf moon is the name that the Native Americans gave to the full moon in January. Part of the reason the Native Americans chose this name was due to the howling wolves outside their villages this time of year. This moon is also known as the Cold, Snow, or Winter Moon. Living in Massachusetts, it's very easy for me to see where this moon gets it's name. It is 4 degrees here today during the day, and it is getting below zero in the evenings. We have a blanket of beautiful white snow covering our ground. As beautiful as this is from inside with my little space heater whirring next to me for added comfort, I can't even begin to imagine how difficult of a time this must have been for our ancestors. It is no wonder they would have been counting down the days to our coming Imbolc when we would celebrate and do our rituals in eager anticipation of the beginning of Spring. We are readying to turn that wheel of the year again.

The Full Moon is the time of greatest power and the perfect night for magick and ritual as it’s a night where energy is in abundance. The Full Moon represents the Goddess in her Mother aspect. She is fertile and abundant gaining knowledge. Tonight's Full Moon is in Leo. This will draw emphasis to ourself, and away from others. People may be a bit more melodramatic today so be sure to keep your patience and understanding high for others, and be aware of any emotions you may personally be projecting. Be sure to take a ritual bath, ground and center if you are working with magick tonight to be sure to rid yourself of any negative residual energy as we don't want it to interfere with this cycle.

The colors to work with for tonights Wolf Moon remind me of the wolf, black, white, and silver. Tonight's element is Air. If you are seeking to find your true self, this element will help us to be truthful with ourselves and do that work. A wonderful stone to work with tonight is hematite. If you need to do any protection work, this is a great night for it. If you are incorporating trees in your work either with wands or other means you want to choose Birch, or Hazel. Deities to call on tonight include Inanna, and Freyja. Herbs to work with include Thistle, Nuts and Seeds and Marjoram. Have an amazingly magickal night and stay warm!

Much Love and Many Blessings,

Jasmeine Moonsong
