Calculating Planetary Hours For Magick

Calculating Planetary Hours For Magick

Merry Meet :)))))))) When working with magick, you will come across spells and rituals that may ask you to perform actions during a planetary hour. Now where in the world would you find this information? This is something that we can calculate. To find the planets corresponding to the hours in the day we use the Chaldean order. "The Chaldean order is really a hierarchy of the forces represented by celestial bodies. This order expresses itself in a timeline and is taken from the orbits of the seven visible planets, and their relative distance, therefore every one of the planets in its turn rules a stage in the linear process of time. The hierarchy is from the slowest of the visible seven – Saturn, all the way through to the fastest and closest - the moon."

Each hour is ruled by a different planet. We know the planet that rules the day by finding the first planet for the first hour of the day. However in the Chaldean order this is always the same. So we know that Mondays are ruled by the Moon. So the first hour of every Monday is always ruled by the Moon. We can calculate the rest from that point as I'll show you in the charts below. The times we use with the Chaldean Order are different though. They are not the same as we typically use. The first hour of the day begins at sunrise, and the last hour ends at sunrise the next day. You will usually find these times in your local paper or you can use google to find the exact time of sunrise for your area. This is where you start your first hour from.

Here is a link to a website with times the sun rises and sets:

So for me today, I live in Massachusetts. Sunrise is at 7:09 a.m. today for me. Today is Friday. So my Chaldean Order day starts at 7:09 this morning with Venus.

We can use the chart below to work from there:
