Ostara Blessings! :)))))))

Merry Meet :))) Blessings to you and yours for a magickal day today. Today is Sunday, March 20, 2016

Sundays are ruled by the Sun, the center of our Solar system, source of light and sustainer of life. Today is a wonderful day for healing and you want to focus on personal security, strength, spirituality and success. It’s a great day for personal achievements of any kind. Sunday is a great day for spells as many types can be done today. The Sun gives energy to any spell work you do today. The best spell for today involve healing, physical strength, obtaining goals, illumination and initiating any magickal activity. If you are working with stones today choose topaz, sunstones or diamonds for protection. Use pearls and gold in crafting talismans.

Tonight's Moon is Waxing, Second Quarter with 89% visibility. The Waxing Moon is when the moon is getting larger in the sky, and moving towards the full moon. It is the ideal time for magick that draws things towards you bringing about positive changes. The Waxing Moon represents the Goddess in her Maiden aspect. The Maiden is all about new beginnings, youthful ideas and enthusiasm. The next important event for your magickal workings is the Full Moon on March 23, 2016.

We begin our day with the Moon void of course as she makes her way to Virgo arriving at 1:20 this afternoon. While the Moon is making her journey she will be void of course or between signs. During this time we want to minimize doing anything important. It's a great time to rest, relax and take care of you. The Moon in Virgo favors accomplishment of details and commands from higher up. It focuses on health, hygiene, and daily schedules. The color of the day is Orange and the incense of the day is Hyacinth. Have an amazingly magickal day! :))))

Ostara Blessings :))

Ostara

Merry Meet :)))) I hope everyone has a blessed Ostara today. :)))))) I know my little ones are looking forward to making colored eggs this evening the most. :)))) We have much to celebrate today for it is the Spring Equinox. :)))) Spring is finally here! I am looking forward to the flowers and herbs returning as we enter the season of growth. I can't wait to see all the brilliant colors start recapturing our Mother Earth as the days get longer and our Father Sun makes the days warmer. Today though is a day of perfect balance, equal light and darkness in the day, as that wheel readies to turn again.

Eostre, also known as Ostara, is the Goddess of Spring. Those cute little bunnies that we see so often this time of year, are an Ostara favorite. It is said that the Goddess Eostre can transform herself into one. Traditionally colored eggs and cakes were offered to this beautiful Goddess of Spring in return for her bringing the baby animals, warmer weather, and the beginning of the crops for the year.

If you are performing your own ritual tonight fresh flowers such as violets, lily of the valley, daffodil's and other early spring flowers are perfect. You can also use fresh herbs such as lemon balm, and lavender. If you live in a climate like mine this may not be possible, as I look outside my window and my herbs have yet to wake from their winter slumber, still I know they will be here soon. As an alternative you can get fresh herbs at the store, or just decorate with beautiful spring colored eggs. In addition you can use light green, lavender or purple candles on your alter, and burn an incense like jasmine or pachouli.

Making a special Ostara dinner? Choose fresh green leafy vegetables and sprinkle seeds upon the top of your dish. You can serve special Ostara bread to go with your salad. For the main course think about dishes involving eggs or roast lamb, be sure not to forget cakes for dessert! :))) You can also add things like fresh fruits, sprouts and flower dishes. :)))

I hope all of you have a Blessed Ostara!

Much Love and Many Blessings,

Jasmeine Moonsong

Take a Barefoot Walk :)

Merry Meet everyone :)

I put out an extra assignment for those who are taking the Empathy extension class with me at Sacred Mists and I thought some of you may enjoy it as well.

The spring is finally coming and the weather outside is warming up. Some of you may be lucky enough to live in areas that are warm year round.

I would love for all of you to find a bit of time to take a barefoot walk. It can be as long as you want. I did this yesterday and had an absolute blast, I was sooo calm when I returned home. Try to walk in some different areas, maybe even find a puddle to splash in a bit, and just pay attention to the different feelings beneath your feet and your connection with the earth. I was surprised by how warm some areas of the ground were compared to others in the same grassy area. I loved the feel of the cool water that was on top of the warm pavement. I also have a lot of moss in my yard so loved the sensation of walking on that as well.

Let me know how it goes, how you feel during and after your experience.

I am also open for suggestions for future activities as well, so if you have any ideas let me know! :)

Power of Intention quote for today, " Through imagination, God imagines everything into reality. Make this your new strategy as well."

Hope everyone had a Blessed Ostara! May you be blessed with Love and Light.

An Ostara Story for the Little Ones

I'm looking forward to celebrating Ostara tomorrow. I was browsing online looking for some Ostara activities to do with my kids and I came across "Eostre and the Easter Bunny" I fell in love with the story the minute I read it, and I intend to share it with my daughter tonight. I thought I would share it here with you so those of you with little ones may wish to read it to them as well. :) Even if you don't have little ones, I think this story is one we all can enjoy. :) Have a Blessed Ostara!

Eostre and the Easter Bunny

Sonia Jenson

Many many years ago, during the time of dragons and castles, there was a beautiful Goddess named Eostre (pronounced Ee-ost-ray). The Goddess had long thick hair the colour of golden wheat, and her eyes were as blue as the sky above. Eostre was the Goddess of Spring, and it was her job to make sure that the Earth awakened from its winter sleep.

During Spring the world came alive. Birds would chirp from the trees as they built nests for the little eggs that would soon hatch into baby birds. Butterflies came out of their cocoons wearing wings of gorgeous colours. All the mother animals of the world gave birth to babies, and beautiful flowers opened their petals. Spring was a time of new beginnings. It was a time to celebrate.

Every year, on the first day of Spring, Eostre held a huge Spring Festival in the meadow. Animals and children from all over the world would attend and bring gifts for the Goddess of Spring to show how happy they were with the fresh new season.

One year, on the day before the festival, the hare wanted to give Eostre a gift. But the hare had nothing that would be fit for a Goddess. The hare was very poor and he had a hard enough time feeding himself, never mind giving a gift to someone.

That day while searching through the forest for some food, the hare found a fresh egg in the grass. He was very hungry and sat down to enjoy his found lunch. He was about to crack open the egg when he suddenly stopped.

"This egg would make a nice gift for Eostre," he thought to himself. "An egg symbolizes birth and Spring. Yes, a very nice gift indeed." So the hare hopped home to decorate the egg.

The next day the hare went to the meadow and hopped up to the Goddess. He shyly presented her with his gift. Eostre took one look at the egg and gave the hare a huge smile. It was a beautiful egg. The hare had painted the egg with lovely designs coloured from the dyes of roses, buttercups and other plants. He had then sealed the egg with beeswax so that it would be shiny.

The Goddess was so happy with the gift that she wanted everyone to have one and share her joy. Eostre knew that the hare was very poor and to give her the egg was a very unselfish act. He could have eaten it and had his belly filled. Eostre decided to reward the hare.

That day, the Goddess of Spring told the hare that he could come and live in her castle. He would have only one job, and that would be to deliver a decorated egg to children around the world, for Eostre loved children. Children symbolized birth and innocence. The eggs would be delivered on the eve of the Spring Festival, so that the children would wake up and find them in the morning.

And so every year, Eostre's bunny (for a hare is a type of rabbit) and his descendants would deliver eggs to the children. Today we call the hare the Easter Bunny, because the Sunday after the first full moon of the Spring Equinox is Easter Sunday, a Christian celebration. Besides, Easter egg is a lot easier to say than Eostre egg.

The End

Ostara Sabbat Ritual at Sacred Mists

Ostara
Friday March 20, 2009

I attended the Ostara Ritual on Friday night at Sacred Mists. This was my second ritual that I have attended at the Mists. Before the ritual I took a nice long meditative bath with candles and eucalyptus spearmint bubbles and wash to clear my mind and help me get focused for the ritual. I set up the area around my laptop with some springtime candles, my crystal, and the pearls that my grandfather had given me. I arrived about a half hour early to get settled and say hello to everyone. I was not nervous at all this time but excited and very much looking forward to the ritual. I got ready by grounding and centering and anxiously awaited Lady Raven.
Lady Raven arrived and opened the ceremony by greeting us all and helping to guide anyone that was experiencing their first ritual. Then she turned the ceremony over to Ellwyn Moonstone.

Ellwyn Moonstone led us through a beautifull opening meditation. I found myself deeply relaxed and completely enjoying the meditation as she led us through it. It’s amazing how clear and focused I was I actually felt as if I was in the places that she spoke of. She led us through a meadow full of wildflowers, and collecting flowers in a basket. We saw a little bunny who played with us a little bit then scampered off to the forest in the distance. I followed the bunny to the forest collecting beautifull eggs and wildflowers along the way. Upon entering the forest I saw a group of faeries dancing among the trees and leading the way to a clearing in the forest. Once in the clearing I found the Goddess Eostra who led the way to the circle where everyone from the Mists was meeting.

At this point Lady Raven took back over the ceremony and cast the circle for our ritual. Lady Raven led us through an additional meditation that I found to be an absolutely amazing experience. I have felt for quite some time that the Goddess Isis has been with me and I had this confirmed for me during the meditation that Lady Raven led. She led us through pagan easter egg hunt and helped us to create an Ostara basket. Along that walk the road forked. As soon as she mentioned the fork in the road I had this overwhelming feeling and actually had tears streaming down the face as I felt the Goddess say to me, see we have been listening to you. You are being heard and you are not alone.

I have had a lot going on in my life right now and this fork in the road was particularly significant to me so I was absolutely overwhelmed and felt loved at this point. I also felt that I had a God reveal himself to me at this point. Adonis came through very clearly to me. He told me that I needed to be more balanced and he was there to help me with that. I had a clear picture of him in my head. As a side note, I looked him up after the ritual and was amazed when I found a picture of him on Wikipedia that matched the image I had in my head of him during the ritual.
Since I have started my journey with the Mists, I have had a more difficult time with the Gods. I became comfortable with the Goddesses right away. As I said I feel that Isis has been helping to guide me for some time, but I did not identify with any of the Gods. Adonis’s appearance to me gave me a whole new sensation, I actually do feel balanced now. The love that radiated from him was amazing and I am grateful for the experience.

I had brought a hard boiled egg to the ritual. We were instructed to write a rune image upon the egg. I did a single rune cast to find the rune for the evening. I pulled Raido as I have many times lately.

“Raido is the journey rune. It stands for the worn path and the open road. It represents the hero’s quest for meaning and redemption. Raido reminds us that life is a journey that leads towards greater understanding. The appearance of Raido suggests a fork in the road. The decisions you make at this junction will determine how your story unfolds. Disruption, in one form or another, is imminent. Raido can be seen as an agent of displacement or it can be embraced as an opportunity for exploration. As with most things in life, your attitude will decide.”

Seeing the meaning of this rune and the experience I had with the Goddess and the fork in the road may help you to understand why this ritual was such an overwhelming experience for me. At this point I peeled the egg, ate half as instructed and saved the other half to give to the wildlife, and the shells to bury outside in the garden.

This ritual was an absolutely amazing spiritual opportunity and I am very grateful for the experiences that I had during it. I left the ritual feeling loved, guided, and protected, and more confident than ever that I am on the right path. I definitely will be researching Adonis more as I feel as if he has been with me since the ritual as well and I want to learn as much as I can about him. :)

A Visit to the Ocean

Purple ocean

A Visit to the Ocean

I had a wonderful time at the ocean this weekend. It's amazing how calming the ocean is to me. Just to be able to sit there and watch it was absolutely mesmerizing. :))) I took the time to clear my head, banish the negativity I was carrying, and really try to think about what I wanted to do as far as my life and spiritual paths.

While taking a walk on the beach I was coming back up towards my hotel room and there were these two really smooth sandy looking stones placed next to each other. They looked very much alike. They seemed to call to me so I picked them up and brought them home. I have placed them on my windowsill along with a couple of shells that I had picked up from the beach a previous time. :)

I had the quartz crystal that I got a couple weeks ago with me so I spent some time meditating on that looking over the ocean. The weekend was an amazing experience for me.

It was also very nice to come home. It finally warmed up a bit here yesterday so I was able to have all the windows open in the house to get some fresh air into here. It's amazing what an uplifting experience it is to just open the windows after they have had to remain shut the entire winter. I am definately looking forward to the warmer weather that spring is brining.

This Friday I will be attending the Ostara ritual online. I am very excited. It is my second online ritual. :) I am starting to gather the supplies that I will need. I should've started earlier but I believe I will be able to find what I need this week. As time goes on I am building a collection of special items to use for my rituals.

I need to collect -

a hard boiled egg with a rune symbol written on it
a yellow or light green alter cloth
springtime colored candles
spring flowers
a small cauldron
and some floral incense.

When I was at the beach I was taking several pictures during the day. One of them came out darker I have no idea why but I absolutely love it. :))
