Saturdays are ruled by Saturn. Saturn’s seemingly infinite journey around the Sun connects us to a greater world beyond. Today is a day of wisdom and awareness. It’s a wonderful day to work on spiritual awareness and connection with the divine. Take some time to meditate today and connect with the universal energy. When working with stones today choose to wear turquoise, labradorite, or diamond for protection. Use amethyst in amulets.

Tonight's Moon is Waning, Third Quarter in Pisces. The Waning Moon is a time for study, meditation, and little magickal work except magick designed to banish harmful energies. The Waning Moon represents the Goddess in her Crone aspect. It’s a time to celebrate the wisdom gained through life. With the Moon in Pisces the focus is on dreaming, nostalgia, intuition, and psychic impressions. It's a good time for spiritual or philanthropic activities. The magickal color of the day is Blue, and the incense of the day is Pine. Have an amazingly magickal day!!

Holistic Remedies For A Fever

Holistic Remedies for a Fever

Merry Meet :)) Fevers. We've all had them. Not fun.  However, it lets me know our bodies are doing what they should. Fevers are an indication of the body turning up the heat to kill the infection. Please seek medical attention if it's more then a slight fever.  For children, any child under 6 months with a fever should be seen immediately.  If a fever is above 103 seek medical attention as well.  You would also need to seek attention from a doctor if there is dehydration or you've had it longer then seven days.  Otherwise, a lot of time the flu will give us those slight annoying 101 temps that are just uncomfortable.  There are some holistic remedies that can help.

- First and the one most of us are likely familiar with is a bath. The bath should be warm though not cold, as if it's cold it can drop a fever too quick, not to mention how uncomfortable it is for the person with the fever.

- Lots of ice water. This can help lower your temp. If you have little ones, consider giving them crushed ice cubes, or put some fruit juice in a blender with some ice. Slurpies are great for this time.

- Rest as much as you can, your body is trying to fight off an infection so the quieter you are it will help.

- You may want to avoid solid foods during this time, but be sure to drink a lot more then usual. Jello and popcicles can be helpful.

- Bergamot, chamomile, tea tree oil or eucalyptus essential oils can be helpful in aromatherapy, or applied as a compress.

- Egg Whites - Soak cold compresses in egg whites and put them on the bottom of your feet, you can then cover the feet with socks.

- Tea - You can use peppermint tea or elder flower teas.

Fever Soothing Tea Recipe (from Mothering Magazine)
- 2 teaspoons peppermint
- 2 teaspoons elder flowers
- 2 teaspoons yarrow flowers
- 2 teaspoons boneset flowers and leaves
- 4 cups hot water
- honey or maple syrup to sweeten.

Use 1 teaspoon of the dried blend or 2 teaspoons of fresh blended herbs per cup of boiling water. Steep for five minutes and strain. Sweeten a cup to taste for your child to drink; pour the rest in the bath. To induce sweating, serve this tea as hot as your child can comfortably drink it. It's recommended serving it in a plastic mug while your sick child sits in a comfortably warm bathtub in a warm bathroom.

Lughnasadh and Tonight's Full Corn Moon

Merry Meet and Lughnasadh Blessings to you all! :))))) It's a very exciting night tonight as Lughnasadh, also known as Lammas, falls on the night of the Full Corn Moon. This is the time of year where we celebrate the fruits of our labors from spring and early summers. The gardens are packed full and we are getting ready to prepare for the end of summer. Our summer vegetables are starting to come to an end, and we are getting ready to welcome in the corn, apples and other fall goodies that the vibrant colored leaves will bring with them. Tonight is the night to celebrate the spirit of the harvest. In the Northern Hemisphere we always celebrate Lughnasadh on August 1st. In the Southern Hemisphere it is celebrated on February 1st. 

Tonight we also honor the God Lugh, the celtic craftsman. Lugh is known as the God of skills and talents. In Europe you will find many towns named after him. The Celts had several Gods and Goddesses. In Celtic mythology, Lugh is associated with the grains and harvests as he once held a harvest fair in honor of his stepmother, Tailtiu. He is where the name Lugnhasadh came from. In honor of him and the fair that he held that day. Today we honor him at harvests. We also call upon him with creativity and skills. 

If you are doing a ritual tonight, here are some ideas to prepare your alter. If you are choosing to honor the God Lugh tonight place a symbol of your craft or trade upon your alter. Other items that are appropriate to include for tonight's celebration include baskets, grains, fruits and vegetables, other symbolic gardening items, and fresh flowers. Some symbols of Lughnasadh include grapes, corn dolls, iron tools or weapons and armor, fall flowers, straw braids, and onion garlands. Altar cloths should be in rich yellows, oranges or reds to represent the end of summer and upcoming fall harvest. Candes should be in rich fall colors as well, reds, oranges, and yellows. 

Full Corn Moon

Tonight we also celebrate the Full Corn Moon. It gets it's name from being the time that we typically start harvesting corn. It is sometimes referred to as the Barley Moon as it is also time to harvest Barley as well. Tonight is a night of harvest. The Corn Moon is a great time to focus on spiritual and physical health.
