Have any studying you need to do or need a day to travel, this would be the best day. Being an intellectual day pay attention to your thought patterns today. Today is a great day to work with your conscious mind and make things happen. If you are working with stones today choose to wear amethyst, star rubies, or lodestones for protection. Choose sapphire in amulets.

Tonight's Moon is Waxing, First Quarter in Scorpio. The Waxing Moon is when the moon is getting larger in the sky, and moving towards the full moon. It is the ideal time for magick that draws things towards you bringing about positive changes. The Waxing Moon represents the Goddess in her Maiden aspect. The Maiden is all about new beginnings, youthful ideas and enthusiasm. The Moon in Scorpio increases awareness of psychic power. It precipitates psychic crises and ends connections thoroughly. People tend to brood and become secretive. The Moon moves into Sagittarius at 5:52 a.m. The Moon in Sagittarius encourages flights of imagination and confidence. This is an adventurous, philosophical, and athletic Moon sign. It favors expansion and growth. The magickal color of the day is Brown, and the incense of the day is Lilac. Indoor Herb Garden

While many of us have herb gardens, for many others it's just not practical. It's also not always possible to have a garden outside so growing herbs inside can be a wonderful alternative. I love having them around inside for the smell. :))) However growing herbs inside can have it's challenges. Ideally a windowsill that gets sun is a great choice. You may want to rearrange furniture a bit so that you can have a mini indoor garden in front of your window. It's a good idea when you are growing plants to use a combination of potting mix, compost, and garden soil. It's best to plant each herb in it's own container, unless you are very familiar with what herbs you can put together.

The following are some herbs that can be grown easily indoors and in small containers:

Basil: Basil is an annual plant. It does well in pots that are eight inches or large. It can grow to be up to two feet high. With basil you want to trm the leaves regularly. The more you trim it the more it will grow.

Chamomile: Chamomile loveeesss the sun. :)) It's not a big fan of water though like some other herbs so be careful no to overwater it. It can grow to be about six inches in height.

Chives: This has to be the herb I use the most frequently besides lavender. I subsitute it for onions in most recipes and add it to a lot of my cooking. They are really easy to grown indoors.

Oregano: Oregano is a great herb to have about indoors. It's very easy to grow. Pick the leaves as you need them.

Parsley: This is another fairly easy herb to grown inside. A bonus is that it doesn't require a lot of sunlight.

Peppermint This is another great plant for inside. Make sure it is in it's own pot as it can overrun other herbs quickly. It doesn't need a lot of sunlight so if you have herbs competing for precious sunlight space this is one that only needs a couple hours a day.

Rosemary: Regular varieties of rosemary can grow over four feet tall, so you will need to pick a dwarf version of it. Take care not to overwater it and keep it in a very sunny area. You also have to trim it regularly.

Thyme: Almost all varieties of thyme will grow well indoors. Most varieties only grow to be a few inches high.

Tuesdays are ruled by Mars, the planet that represents war, courage and conflict.  It’s a day to recharge your personal power.  Today is a very strong day and the focus will be on passion, sex, courage and aggression. If you need to be courageous in something today would be the day to take that on. If you are working with stones today choose rubies, star sapphires, or emeralds.  Use topaz for amulets.    

Tonight is the New Moon in Scorpio.  The New Moon is a time of new beginnings, hope, faith and optimism.  Use this night to work any magick to set the pace for what you want to happen this lunar cycle.   The Moon in Scorpio increases awareness of psychic power.  It precipitates psychic crises and ends connections thoroughly.  People tend to brood and become secretive. The magickal color of the day is Red, and the incense of the day is Ylang-Ylang.   Have an amazingly magickal day!!!

Wax Divination

Wax Divination

Wax divination is a divination method that can be quite effective. I personally love working with melted wax. It's fairly easy to do as well. One method is to get wax that can be melted down. You need to get wax that can be melted down. Be sure to be safe, and melt the wax down in a double burner. When the wax is in liquid form pour it slowly into a dish of ice-cold water. The wax with harden as soon as it hits the water, and typically forms a variety of shapes.

A second method is to light a candle and allow it to burn down a bit. The large pillars work best for this as you wil get a larger pool of wax in the top. Again use caution when doing this. Be sure you don't get burned. ;) Tip the candle over and pour the liquid wax into a bowl of ice-water. Watch for the shapes to form.

Once the wax is in the water, observe it for a few minutes. Don't remove it right away as you can change the shapes by picking them up too soon.

After several minutes have passed you can remove the wax and interpret your results. A larger symbol bears more significance then a smaller one. Do they work together? For instance, if you see one that is shaped like a heart and another like a ring, perhaps a wedding is in your future? If you have one that is very meaningful to you, you may wish to keep it on your alter.

The Moon in Libra favors cooperation, social activities, beautification of surroundings, balance, and partnership. The Moon moves into Scorpio at 6:10 a.m. The Moon in Scorpio increases awareness of psychic power. It precipitates psychic crises and ends connections thoroughly. Alabaster

Alabaster

Alabaster is a very important stone for holistic healing and has been used for hundreds of years. It's a form of gypsum. In ancient times, the Greeks and Romans used this stone mixed with water to create casts and impressions. Alabaster is still used in building today. Many statues that you see are made from alabaster because of it's ease to work with. The stone is transluscent so you will also find lamps and lampshades made of it. You can see the picture below for an example. :)))

Alabaster is a wonderful stone and can help tension, headaches, lack of concentration, and painful joints. It is also helpful with hormonal imbalances. Alabaster is a great stone to have with you if you are looking to control your emotions and strengthen your concentration. It is very useful in meditation, grounding and centering. Alabaster is a conduit to help you connect with the energy of the Earth.

To cleanse your Alabaster cyrstal run it under warm running water once a month.

The Frog as Your Totem

The Frog As Your Animal Totem

My story begins with a trip to the lake almost six weeks ago now. We were out fishing and my daughter caught this huge bullfrog. She begged to take him home. I normally would say no, but we presently have a painter turtle living in a turtle pool in our yard and for some reason I found myself agreeing to let her bring him home. Well, it was more of a, "I don't think he's going to live very long in our yard," and my daughter insisting he was. So "bullie" came home with us. He survived the night without a hitch. Next day he was sitting on the shelf on the side of the pool happily looking at me. I was watching him with my son, when he jumped out of the pool. I clearly misestimated how high he could jump. We scrambled in the bushes trying to find the frog for my daughter who was at summer camp, but no luck. When she came home I broke the news to her. She was sad, but I soothed her with the fact that he was likely still living in our yard somewhere with the little brook that runs through the back of the yard. Enter in the next day, and Bullie.... yes, that's right. I came out the next day to feed the turtle and there he was sitting on the shelf in the pool. I couldn't believe it! He stared back at me as if he had never left. Since then he comes back and forth to the pool. He lets my daughter carry him around without jumping away as well. Something I still can't believe. So I now have a tamed turtle and frog living in a little tikes pool in my yard. We are still trying to sort out what we are going to do when the cold weather comes. I sense a pool in my basement in the future....

Since then I have been seeing frogs like crazy. I mean crazy. I went for a walk by a stream the other night and I literally saw over 200 frogs. It seemed like every step I took one jumped. I have no idea if I was near some sorta breeding area or something? I have never seen so many in my life. lol :))) In any event, these events led me to today's topic, the frog as your spirit or totem animal. As we know frogs survive in two worlds, water and land. They are a bridge between earth and water elements in the animal spirit kingdom. When they enter your life they typically indicate that a change is coming, and you need to jump to the next item. (I'm apparently missing the next item as I'm seeing them almost nonstop lol :)))))

Shamans believe that frogs can seamlessly shift from states of consciousness. They are seen as a symbol of magick. The frog is also a symbol of fertility. (No I'm quite content with the two little angels I have. :))) Frogs are healers and are known to help clean spiritual energy. When the frog comes onto our path we need to examine our goals and intentions and see if a leap needs to be made.
